MG v. Triumph Forum Volume

We MG owners also have better social skills and manners which means we interact more on a face of face basis than online.
We're also better looking...
funnier...
smarter...
have cleaner fingernails...
Fine singing voices...
A charming air of modesty...
and a gigantic, unfounded sense of superiority...
Oops, sorry, that last one was for Healey owners

Hopefully all recognize that the tongue is firmly and deeply implanted in the cheek

Starbuck, I got a kick out of it, particularly the "fine singing voices" "charming air of modesty" and the semi-subtle reference to Austin Healey owners.

What's the way to go?Am I a better person if I admit to owning
an MGBGT,or a TR6?Is this about what's more popular,or acceptable?
I have both, but neither one makes me superior to any other person/-
car.I enjoy the "friendly banter" between the marques, but I don't like it
when it turns into anyone seriously looking down on anyone else.

What made you a great person was the Cortina,but...alas...

I did, which was why I put the Jester emoticon on the post to follow to indicate that my comment was in "JEST".

I had a friend that drove nothing but a TR-6 for years. He said more than once that it was more comfortable than most sports cars he ever rode in. I know his engine was very snappy and the car very fast. I like them, I think their a nice looking car. As far as maintenance goes, their no different than any other car 30,40,50 years old. Just like us, we all need a little TLC once in a while! :grouphug: :jester:

IMHO, the MGB is a much more comfortable (and wider inside) car to ride in than my TR6 was until I installed the Miata seats. Now they are about equal. The TR6 is a six, so the power is greater, but the B is fun to drive, so it all depends what you want.

I wanted a wider car, like the B, but with more power like the TR6, so I did the next best thing and bought Mickey's TR8.

Best of both worlds and what would have happened if you combined the B and 6 together to make an ideal car.

Just a little statistical point here:

Did you know that 99% of all Triumphs ever produced are still on the road.....

The other 1% started, or were towed home...

Rick, your MGC is, umm... I can't use a term relating loosely to the upper front female anatomy here.
But y'all get it!

Call it like it is! You all have GT6 envy! Admitting there is a problem is the first step on the road to recovery.... The fact that you all freely declare to others, to owning British a car means there is little hope....However if you have the proper insurance coverage, I'm sure there is a pill/treatment program for you.

Does "MG" make "Triumphs" or "Triumph" make "MGs"?

"Who Cares"! They`re all a lot of fun to drive & wrench on. For all you "Comfort" seeking "2 Seater Sports Car" buffs; There always is a "Mazda Miata, Honda 2000, Pontiac something or another etc etc".

I had to add my $0.02 here.

So it took a MG vs Triumph peeing battle to wake this place up, I guess that is a good thing

All jokes aside, I come here almost everyday and check post, but seldomly post myself, I mostly post to technical engine/SU carb questions and around here it seem to be more about the perfect floor mats or convertible tops. I sure would like to se this section of forum more heavily traveled.

As I get further into finishing the GT, I'll be posting more here.

Currently: Prepping the engine compartment for installing the V6. Still waiting on a few parts. Engine's ready; transmission needs to be resealed and checked out.

Tony had converted over to power brake system, and I'm going back with standard. Have new brake lines to run, and need to rebuild a standard master cylinder I had here as a spare. Just received the parts for the parking brake that were missing, so that needs finishing.

I've painted the dash, and am waiting for new gauges to arrive. Then I can assemble and install it. But I'm adding air conditioning, so not sure how that's going to impact that. As I'm putting the steel dash in a '70 body, it's going to require some modifying, especially for the steering column.

Also, I've added insulation and am ready to install the carpet. But I'm holding off on that until I get the engine and transmission (T5) installed, in case I have to tweak the opening a bit for the shifter.

Seat frames are painted and I'll be putting the new covers on soon.

Lots of stuff to collect before I can move on, and am waiting for a little warmer weather. But still targeting a finish date in time for the MG V8 show in Townsend in May.
