Looking to buy my 1st B--how does this one look?

Re: Looking to buy my 1st B--how does this one loo

I know I would prefer to change a sill Kandace /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Re: Looking to buy my 1st B--how does this one loo

Kandace - are we getting away from the "no project" criteria? If so, there are lots of possibilities out there that he could tackle & probably stay close to the overall $7,000 figure.

Save some fuel and time: go to Amazon first. Doubt you'd find 'em at B&N.

The Barnes and Noble here in Champaign has at least one copy in stock...they also stock some of the other British marques.

Re: Looking to buy my 1st B--how does this one loo

Clausager's and/or Porter's books?? WOW! I'm surprised. B&N here would 'order' 'em but Amazon works as well in that case and is usually less money.

I think we're moving away from the "no project" criteria. Mark's fine w/mechanical fixes (to a certain degree), and paint doesn't have to be perfect (want a driver, not show car.) Don't want big rust issues--too much $$$. Still interested in aunt's--just have to get up there. If it's in good shape at $2500, we can buy it and also get a CB in the $5-$7k range for him to work on (garage space is not an issue). Let me know what you're thinking. Thanks.

Ok, ok, garage space is not an issue YET. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif

Re: Looking to buy my 1st B--how does this one loo

This would only come from someone like me.....

Do any of you out there get a sneaky suspicion that "Kandace" is really "Janel"?

Just kidding, Kandace. You have to understand my sense of humor.

In a previous incursion into the MG forum, I talked about a clean rubber bumper B that is for sell in my area. The couple bought it on whim then bought another limited edition model they wanted more. (kindof impulse buyers)
I might see them on a little cruise we are having with an impromptu sports car club gathering. The car looks rust free to me. I think they want too much, but can see how badly they want to sell it.

Re: Looking to buy my 1st B--how does this one loo

I've been called many things, but never Janel... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Let me know what you find out about the B. Thanks.

Re: Looking to buy my 1st B--how does this one loo

I was just curious, Kandace, about how much of a project you're thinking...oh, do we ever meet "him"?

Re: Looking to buy my 1st B--how does this one loo

Ladies and Gentlemen (and I'm using that term loosely), here is Mark:

Well boys, you know what I am up against everyday...BUT she is a keeper.

Tony--it's a pleasure to meet you (and everyone else as well). Kandace showed me the GarageMahal. That's awesome. About the car, I don't want to do a whole lot of body work but can handle mechanical. Don't feel like rebuilding an engine though. I've signed on to the forum as "Spud" and am waiting for you guys to approve me. I'll jump in then--could use some guys on my side! Kandace is a nut (MG and otherwise).

Geez, Mark!!! Like we didn't ~NOTICE~ that part. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devilgrin.gif

Re: Looking to buy my 1st B--how does this one loo

She managed to hide it when we dating. I actually thought she was sane. Go figure. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Re: Looking to buy my 1st B--how does this one loo

Well, welcome Spud...Basil should have you recognized in a real short tie..that's something new.

If you're willing to accept some restoration work, you'll find your dollars go farther - but, steer away from rust unless its minor like a floor or dogleg, no sills or major rust though....& in the South, there are way too many rustfree cars to tackle a big rust repair.

Re: Looking to buy my 1st B--how does this one loo

I'm willing. She's given me a budget of $7k (and that's completely separate from her Aunt Pam's b) so let me know if you know of a good one. I'd appreciate all the help you can give. Been a long time since I sold my b, but I get the feeling it's like riding a bike..........

Again, it's great to talk to some MG lovers. It's been WAY too long for me.

Re: Looking to buy my 1st B--how does this one loo

Tony--it's the chick again. What's a dogleg? (I checked Knowledge Base first, but it's not in there.)

Re: Looking to buy my 1st B--how does this one loo

Lower rear fender bit.... and have Mark sign in! I feel like I'm talkin' to a schitzo!

...and it's all MY fault! err... no... it's all Rumplestiltskin's fault... or DrE's fault.....

Oh, this is ALL soooo confusing.../ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devilgrin.gif

Re: Looking to buy my 1st B--how does this one loo

Yes, yes, here I am. I feel like I know most of you guys from all Kandace's talking.

Re: Looking to buy my 1st B--how does this one loo

Welcome Spud

Kandace also mentioned she might be swayed into buying a TR7 instead of the MGB. I think that is a great idea.

Re: Looking to buy my 1st B--how does this one loo

Doc hit it - its the bottom 9" of the rear fender right in front of the wheel well & behind the door - next to the rocker seam.....it flows into the door's "B" post.
