Looking to buy my 1st B--how does this one look?

Re: Looking to buy my 1st B--how does this one loo

Well, then, I'm in good company. Thanks!

Re: Looking to buy my 1st B--how does this one loo

Kandace,

Everything that you have been told is good advice. I bought my first MGB about twenty-five or so years ago, and of course this board did not exist, and I was still in the UK then anyway. What I found invaluable was Lindsay Porter's "Guide to purchase and DIY restoration of the MGB". It's not the definitive work on the subject, but is probably the best published to date (hint to Tony.....I would like a signed copy when you write the definitive volume, just for planting the idea). I read it cover to cover many times, and it helped enormously. I don't know as much as Tony, and I probably absorbed enough to be dangerous, but it's well worth the money. Even though you want a turn-key car, it will help you avoid buying one that's not............

Re: Looking to buy my 1st B--how does this one loo

Good point, Steve. Another really helpful book is Clausager's Original MGB. Some really nice pictures to go along with the authoritative text on the model's history, specifications, etc. I used it extensively when I restored our (Janet's!) B. Nice coffee-table book to have, and I still pick it up and read.

Re: Looking to buy my 1st B--how does this one loo

Save some fuel and time: go to Amazon first. Doubt you'd find 'em at B&N.

Re: Looking to buy my 1st B--how does this one loo

What do you guys think bout an MGA for Kandace?

Re: Looking to buy my 1st B--how does this one loo

For Kandace? I thought this (thread) was primarily about her assuaging her guilt over her S.O. gallantly sacrificing his MGB to gain his newly acquired family a dwelling... by replacing said sacrifice with an equivalent.

But I'm a man... and I can change... if I have to... I guess. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devilgrin.gif

Finding a nice B for 5K is much easier than finding a nice A for 10K

I wouldn't exactly call it assuaging my guilt--I thought I was just being nice... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

I'll be going through there in a few days en route to Louisville....don't know your schedule but it'll be a weekday.

If you buy it, we can show him how to convert it to chrome bumper specs - the proper way! &, its not real expensive (& you don't need one of the high dollar kits either!)

I'm going to be adding the rear bumper mounting plates to the morSpeed site soon.

They are 1/4 laser-cut pre-bent plate steel. All you'd need is the bumper and the little chrome plates that screw in under the lamps.

$35 shipped.

Tomato, tomatoe.

Re: Looking to buy my 1st B--how does this one loo

I found an MGA for 7k, and he is probably willing to take less (maybe 6-6.5k). I have seen pics. The car is local and I can check it out for her.

He was one of those selfless people...........or confused.
He was in love.......... tormented.

You have picked an excellent way to show your affection.
After he has sacrificed so much.

You are a sneaky female.

Or you had no idea, the significance of his actions. (Then)

NOW you may be a "keeper" /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

You know, I did bear him four children--I think we may be even in the "sacrifice" part.
