I was thinking more in the line of "lighted mirror" for female companion. Not sure 'bout the lane changin' thing. What happens if you forget to manually return the signal(like in a Healey)? Do people use turn-signals anymore?

I hope that internal light isn't a Lucas one run through your fuse box on the firewall!

Sooooo, this MacGyver project seemed to become a what are you thinking project. I can roll with that. Like I said, not all my creations are hit out of the park.

I really like it, but and there is usually a but, I'm having a tuff time accepting the plane jane black plastic look.

Every other MacGyver project I've come up with is hidden. Cup holder, GPS/mp3 player, volume control, 4 speakers and the LED/neon courtesy lights.

But I will share, for those who are not as concerned with orginality, that this mirror works great! I've been driving around with it for a while and it does as good a job as an outside mirror. No distortion at all and distance is spot on.

I'm a persistant out of the box guy, and I'm going to look into other, more visually appealing mirrors. So as they say, don't change that dial, I'll be back, same bat time, same bat channel...

Till then, here some other KISS solutions...

The 1st photo, my favorite. It's a multitasker. Put your hand out and it's a side view mirror, someone too close to the side of your car...blind them with the refection. Don't have a vanity mirror sunshade...got that covered. Kids in the back seat misbehaving...knock it off, I see you.

You might consider one of those mirrors that clip to helmets of bicycle riders...they're larger and you'd have a crash helmet too!
They come in several colors and designs.

Ah, so you know my craft is PDR, Paintless Dent Removal. Those little dents/dings add to the petina of your Raydyot.

I've been afraid to drive ours (BJ7)on multi-lane with the top up without a passenger to tell me when it's safe to move left due to the complete lack of vision (for me - I'm not flexible enough to crawl out the window at speed), so will be following up on your suggestion. I recently bought the clip-on/vent mirror from AH Spares but haven't installed it yet, so will try it first.

Thanks for a solution that works!

KISS...
Mirror (vanity) is double sided. One side flat, other magnified, ya know for the blind spot. Just twist the wand.

Look for this product... soon to be on TV informercials around 3am.
The MacGyver... Wonder Mirror.

There is a large assortment of suction cup mirrors for the windscreen. I use a 2 1/2 inch flat mirror in the center at the top. I've seen "fish eye' up to 6 inches. Norman Nock used a small one on the top of the passenger side of his car so his wife could see as well. I thought it was too small being only an inch high for the driver to see. I take it off for shows. It can be moved up and down depending on if the top is off or not. I do not use it as Roger does but I'm sure it would work if stuck on the edge of the windscreen on the driver side if it was a fish eye type.
