Inside the car Blind Spot Mirror - MacGyvers back!

OH that's OK Bil they will teach you in short order-Keoke--

OK, so it's back to business as usual :yesnod:

As TH mentioned, some of the things I come up with, or the other MacGyvers out here, may not be everyones cup of tea. Thank you Elrey for you last post.

I don't know if I will keep this mirror in my car, for I have become quite accustomed to using the dash mirror. I just wanted to share that I have driven with this blind spot mirror for a couple weeks and it actually works.

I don't post my failures, there are way too many, and although they would be good for a laugh, there are more important things to write about on this forum.

I wasn't aware that any interior blind spot mirrors were available, and maybe some of you may consider adding this product to your family car, if it could benifit from it.

This post sort of reminds me of my hidden cup holder post. Some people commented...a cup holder in a sports car, are you mad! While others filled up my mailbox with, please tell me how to install it in my car.

Cheers,
Roger

Now I've got to make sure I don't run into any of you folks without first removing my new blindspot mirror!

Being the engineer that I am and have the big book of the CA vehicle code, I figured I would check it out. The regulations say you need at least two mirrors, and one must be on the left side. Maybe you can get away with yours.
Seat belts do not have any exemption for the age of the vehicle. No mention made 2 or 3-point, which indicates a lap belt is all that is required.

Cheers, Scott in CA

PS: attached picture is a mirror I added to the BE so I would let the next owner drill holes in the body rather than me!

What makes your innovations and car so great to me is that they result in modern conveniences and improvements with practical function, yet are invisible or disappears when desired. This mirror innovation deviates from this.

I have yet to put a mirror back on my car after it's fresh paint, mostly because there is not a spot that works well and looks good to me. Good visibility is definitely a problem, looking for a solution on these cars.

I rented a new mustang the other day and it had a split mirror on it. The small mirror within the mirror showed the blind spot very well. I was really surprised on how well it worked and thought that this is the future.

You are so right, on both accounts.

This mirror deviates from all my other innovations, as it's not hidden from view, keeping the car looking stock. There's no getting around it, what ever someone wants to add, to the inside like I did, it's going to show, and it's not going to be stock looking.

I think the reason this is not "ones cup of tea" is that it doesn't have good presence, doesn't show well. If it were made out of bullet aluminum and had a nice stem, then it may get the thumbs up. And I'd agree.

What this post was meant for was to show, there is something out here that can help those who do not have or want to put exterior mirrors on their cars.

Plus as my innovations go, this is removable and no sign that it was once there.

Cheers,
MacGyver

My friends tell me I tend to overthink things.
I think in the case of having an outside mirror, or MacGyvering this latest thumbs down attempt, here's what I call the KISS approach..
Mirrors are so over rated.
What blind spot...

KISS...
Mirror (vanity) is double sided. One side flat, other magnified, ya know for the blind spot. Just twist the wand.

Look for this product... soon to be on TV informercials around 3am.
The MacGyver... Wonder Mirror.

(patent pending...so there!)

Cheers,
MacGyver

(patent pending...so there!)Does that passenger mirror have the internal light option??
Patrick

Of course Patrick...
Being this mirror does double duty, that internal light flashes like a directional when making lane changes.
