...when they turn their little 4-bangers over from a cold start their little engines go Pop...Purrrrr.

I visited with a fella that had trailed his MGB in from Minnesota and with the car still on the trailer he said, "Let's see if it will start." Pop...Purrrr. SA.

hmmm - maybe TeeYah has some MG blood? It's 35 outside, I pulled the choke knob out, punched the starter, and heard ...

POP - prrrrrrrrrr

That's the difference! My TR could drive from Minn. to Louisiana - and wouldn't need a trailer!

Gee, on my MGB that "pop, purr" was always prefaced with "tick... tick... tick... silence... (bang on fuel pump with hammer)... tick... tick... tick..."

:raspberries:

This MG has been from California to New York, Tampa to Cleveland... under it's own power and not needing any "rescue" for any of it!

BLASPHEMERS! the lot of ya! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/devilgrin.gif /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/jester.gif

In our club (mixed marques) most of the Triumph people hang out together and most the MG people are at the other end of the room.

Except one. He hangs with us either because he has Triumph envy (thats what we tell him) or because his best friend since third grade is one of the Triumph owners.

An MG that Prrrrs?

Lift the lid...it probably has a Miata engine.

Well...I have found my BGT to be a tough little car. I think the build quality to be pretty darn good and it seems to be shrugged off a lot of abuse from its prior owners.

My Mini is a BMC product... like the MG. So, since my other LBC is a Triumph... does that make me "bi".

BTW, both our LBCs are weekend cars. Neither starts on the first turn of the key, but neither takes an un-necessary amount of work to start either. Both turn heads where they go.

You mean that your TR6 doesn't go "GROWL ..... PURR" like mine after a cold start?

My car rarely takes more than two attempts to
start. Sometimes I won't choke just because the
sound of the new starter is coool. Got a kinda
whine.

Of course Yeller is a four banger, but after sitting all last winter, when I went out and spun the starter, choke, pump the acc. Rrrr Rrrr Rrrr (starter) then Purrrrrrrrrrrr.
I hope that this next spring is a repeat.

Re: I love MG people because......

... they pay about half the dues $$$$ that makes our all-marque club possible. They even buy a round or two now and again.

Re: I love MG people because......

Could it be because they pay less to keep their cars
on the road?

Hmmm....

I remember this ease-of-starting topic coming up in the MG forum. It was certainly the case that I only needed to jingle the keys in my pocket, and my GT would start right up.

Doc: when are you getting yourself a TR6 ?!

This thread is turning sour rather quickly, isn't it?

Lambasting a British LBC(whatever the brand)Is BLASTFOEMY!
We need to turn THAT energy toward Miata's.Thats my RANT on this subject.,Just venting my spleen on "VENT YOUR SPLEEN FRIDAY"..;-)
