I hate MG people because......

I don't think Miatas ever have a problem with a cold start.

A friend and I were working on his TR3 after 10+ years of sitting idle. After we prepped the engine, the starter turned 2-3 revolutions and engine started like it had run 5 minutes earlier. We had bragged to another friend about how great the thing had run, so the next week with him present, we about fired the starter trying to get the thing going. Go figure.

I joke about MGs once in a while, but I don't really have anything against MG cars or their owners. I would certainly stop to help one broken down. I wouldn't let them touch my cell phone because we all know that they are mostly a bunch of thieves and Ex-Cons, but I would stop and see if I could get $10 bucks out of them for a jump start.

This thread could easily turn into the new "Battle of Britain"

I went to a COVTR meeting in OKC once and had the whole club hissing MG owners once. It was quite funny. Most of the members of my local car club are MGB owners, my brother even owns three(!?). But I still have a laugh poking fun at MGB owners. That said, all cars are good, well almost all.....

I hate MG people because...

When our local Triumph club puts on their annual Polar Bear Run in February last year, 3 cars wouldn't start, died on the parking lot, failed to proceed.

Yup, all rumfs.

Anyone that trailers an MG post 1954 is a wussy.

I love MG's! They are a great diversion and something for the uninformed to purchase so Triumphs aren't in such short supply. For that very reason I happily accept any harassment from MG fans because it helps keep them from crossing over. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/banana.gif /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/devilgrin.gif /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/banana.gif

Oh, jaybird, to further this effort we draw straws to see who will display a mechanical difficulty so as not to draw too much admiration. Yes, all the Triumph owners are in on this. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/angel.gif

The only MG pokin I do is purely fun. I've owned both, I like both. My horribly beat up TR4A would start on the first try even after sitting all winter. It's all in the settings on the carbs and the state of tune of the engine. If your outta whack, you can grind on that thing for ever before it'll pop.
You guys that pump the pedal on anything with SUs or ZS carbs are funny. open closed open closed.
My good frind with an MGA drove it to a big MG meet in New England a few years back and took his grandson along.(like Doc, his MG has been on several looong trips) they walked past a guy with an MGA on a trailer all covered up with the cover just lifted far enough so he could clean the wheel spokes with his Q-tips. My friend said to his grandson, "Look Joey, that MG must be broken down. It's on a trailer"
He says the guy looked like a steamed lobster... so they kept walkin.

LOL. I'm sure if you keep it up, eventually an accelerator pump will magically appear /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

I haven't seen a similar post on the MG Forum, probably because we recognize our natural superiority.

And besides, when it came time to resurrect a marque, which was resurrected?

That's right - MG!

heck, we even have our own MG beer - Old Speckled Hen. Does Triumph? Didn't think so!

And as for blasphemy, how about naming a 4-banger after the plane that saved Britain during its darkest hour! Triumph couldn't do any better than that?!

And yes, my name means I own a MGC, and before you insult that, think about your own Stag. Enough said.

Having said all this, these days it's nice to see any British car on the road. Used to see them all the time, now it's few and far between.

The only time i HATE MG's is when i see one in the salvage yard.Cryin shame.AND i do see more MG's in the junkyard than Triumph's go figure it must be a self fullfilling prophesy ;-O........Incidently down the street in someones frontyard sits a 1965-66 MG Midget FORSALE & a nice black one too.....If anyone's interested about info contact me i'll go look for details. It looks all original & untampered with.

Today I saw 3 MGBs for sale within a one mile stretch of Rte 101 in New Hampshire. All were very nice condition. About 8 miles up the road from them are 2 Bugeyes that have been sitting in the same spot for a couple of years with no tops. I don't know why people just let cars sit and rot. They must be of some use to someone for parts.

This thread is turning sour rather quickly, isn't it?

I don't think so. Up to this point, every post I've seen is obviously just meant as harmless fun. Let's not take a little inter-marque fun-poking too seriously, any of us. After all, they are ALL little British cars and I for one, love all of them!

I agree, these cars, mo matter what the name is, are some of the most important cars in history. WW2 brought them to our attention and now we love them because we can't get any more.
My duty is to keep this memory alive and I'll always try my best to do this.
I only hope Y'All feel the same way

I agree...I think my goal is to own one of each! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/crazyeyes.gif

Triumph people picking on MG people is like a one brother picking on another. Let someone outside the family pick on the same brother and the family ties run thick.

In my family that could get someone in DEEP trouble.....

Kind of reminds me of someone calling your sister ugly.
Outside the family: Shoulders come up!
Whithin the family:"Yeah -she's kinda ugly!"
