I'm busy rebuilding the heater box after repainting it all.

The base of the box has three holes in it. Which way around does it go - two holes to the heat outlet end, or the blank end with Smiths label on it?
 
Those holes on the bottom panel were most likely put there to mount a radio. Most I have seen had two holes near the front edge and one for the rear of the radio.
 
I just did mine also, and no holes! I was thinking as I was finishing the box, that Smiths label could use some shining up. But it has numbers on it and the font is too small for any of my letter/number sets. The bottom piece of the valve, that stays attached to the heater core was loose. Is it just sealed with a thick o ring ? Does that aluminum ring get compressed to hold the base more securely?
 
The BJ8 ones have no holes as far as I know as the radio was in the console .
I cant check as my 2 BJ8s are now way to far away as I sold them .
This heater is for my BT7 so Im thinking the holes could be for a radio mount ?
The flange on the heater should be secured , soldered ,so when the heater valve is mounted it compresses the oring which is around the tube .
