Gunson's "Colourtune" is the coolest thing ever

OK, OK. Maybe not ever, but still.

If you don't have one I'd recommend one. Very cool.

(And it confirmed that the TR6 carbs are properly set up, thank you very much. Yippie)

It's quite hypnotic looking down into that glass plug, isn't it?

Using a ColourTune on my own carb setup made me look like some kind of Zenith-Stromberg genius. I haven't had to do anything to my carbs in years now.

I like 'em as well. Makes short work of the job, IMO. Used 'em for years in the shop. Have two, that way twin carb setups are a breeze.

Oh-oh. Just what I needed to hear. I just got used to my new Synchrometer and digital advance timing light and you guys throw a new gadget at me.

Music to my ears and it sounds awful good!!!!

If two makes twin carbs setup easy, should I get three for my trips or is that overkill....

And no smart remarks on that request either!

I used the Gunson's to tune the Strombergs on my 'new' TR6. I thought it seemed rich and that's what the Gunson's said. I leaned it out to blue and went up to try to get the car registered. Here in Delaware I have to pass an idle emissions test. I just got back from DMV where I passed the emissions test. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/driving.gif

So here's another vote for the Gunson's.

Does it look anything like a rubber hose sticking into the carb throat?

But don't you have to be color-sighted to use it?

That excludes me, then!

Wait a minute....missing info.

Where did you buy it and how much? Any links to the site?

Moss sells 'em.

In that case, you'll have to go high tech and install an oxygen sensor and air fuel ratio gauge.

I'm going to do that on my TR3 resto. This way I can see the ratios under all operating conditions.

That is ~THE~ way to dial in twin DCOE Webers, y'know. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/thumbsup.gif

I bought mine off eBay for about $50.

John, maybe you could enlist a friend to confirm the color!

Paul - you'll need to buy three! (not really, but if you are going to jump in why not get fully wet).

Be sure to buy the right type of sensor.

Think I'll just lift the piston and listen to RPM. Fits in better with my Synchrohose.

Well, there's basically only two types available. The common narrow band that's in most of the cars since they started using them, and the wide band. The wide band uses a 0-5VDC signal and is very accurate, and also very expensive. The more common narrow band sends a 0-1VDC signal. They all send the same signal. It's just a matter of it's a one wire heated by the exhaust, or a four wire that has it's own heating element. I'll be using one of those because I'm putting on a header, and the sensor will be too far downstream to use a one wire. A Bosch generic heated O2 sensor can be had for about $30.

All the other differences in O2 sensors is the length of wires and the plugs that will mate them up to what's in your car. Other then that, they are all mostly all the same.

Re: Gunson's "Colourtune" is the coolest thing eve

Anyone have install guide/experience and pictures for getting an O2 sensor up and running?
