Been there done that - fortunately don't have the scar. My dad's DKW - not his actual car in the pic but you can see that the element is exposed (on the right) and you need to push the button on top. I wanted to see if it was working.

There is a scene in the Denzel Washington movie, Man on Fire, where John Creasy (Washington) uses a lighter on one of the bad guys. It's a scene that is hard to watch!
