? for Basil

I thought it was more like no, yes and yes. But Tony is gonna be retired soon so maybe he has too much time on his hands
cheers.gif

Okay, so the answers are more like No (if you like your wife) Yes (assuming that you have given up sleep) And No (but thats only if you haven't already given up sleep for the MG's)

Tony

but Jerri, his wife, wants one. of course he's already doing a BGT for her

Well I understand that there are things that can be done to improve the, um, interesting suspension charecteristics of the corvair, and with that, it wouldn't be a bad car. I just remember seeing a '65 corvair on the interstate get passed by a semi, it was amazing, the durn thing rose to the top of the springs! when the semi got past, the thing bottomed out, talk about drama!

Tony (not the autoist, but rather the blacksmith, still cool but doesn't quite have the right ring on a car forrum)

Gee Chuck!! Thanks for being so forgiving!!

Now if Tony is sving no pesos and doing thet beautiful B for Jerri, and she has that Mercedes (

) why in the heck would she want a Corvair??? I am
confused.gif

Nope, Jerri's never driven one...everytime she sees one, she remarks how much she likes their looks...this weekend at the museum when she said she liked it, I commented that I'd just buy her one....every other time I've done that, she said 'no'...this time she didn't..so.....

...will she drive it? probably no more than she'll drive the GT; she is, after all, spoiled by her Mercedes

...will she drive it far? no farther than Kroger's on a Saturday afternoon

...will she ever put the top down? no

...however, my policy is: "If I don't say 'no' to her, she can't say 'no' to me!" I buy her a Corvair & surprise her at birthday or anniversary...she's happy...I come back from Mexico with an MG TF in a box, she can't get angry!!!

Not Tony!!

So you are gonna go look at the Corvair? Any idea what their main problems are, or where rust is usually located?? This is a crazy thread, but it makes me laugh!!

don't know much about them, Gary, but I have been researching the web, and since this is a convertible, I would look at the usual suspects, ie, floors and trunk area. It supposedly runs and can be driven. Forecast calls for a high of 17, so it should be a pleasurable drive

I was thinking 17' C, but obviously it will be 17' F!! At least you get to check the heater!!

I don't know much about them either, but seeing as they were late 60's or early 70's, the sheet metal from Detroit was pretty bad!! I bought a '74 GMC pickup in late '75 and it already had rust bubles on the doors! It must have been one dirty city in those days!! Gee, I gotta get back to working on this quote!! Talk atcha' tonite!!

Hey, Gary even grossed out Basil...his cow-go-go disappeared...

Why does my number of posts remain at 77 even though I've posted lots more than that?
