? for Basil

he said he looked close, but he didn't put it on a lift. He bought it in North Carolina

I guess the thing about this topic that I find most humorous, is the fact that the tittle says "? for Basil" and Basil is about the only person who hasn't responded!

Tony (not the autoist)

I think Basil is trying to figger out what this is all about!!

If you read the whole thing at one time, you'll be rolling, especially if you know all the side stories we can't talk about here. btw, Gary, I'm goin to look at a Corvair for Tony Thursday

I thought this was all about nonsensical chatter! I'm still trying to decide wether to jump in and volunteer myself and my services to build this now fabbled garage next year. I think it might be worth it, just to meet al these crazy folks! (though I still wouldn't be driving an MG)

Tony ("Did you know that Tony spelled backwards is Why Not?"--One of the best pick up lines That comes built into a name)

Cmon over Tony, we can use all the help we can get. And the only reason I'll probably drive a B to the event is to keep Laura out of those New England antique shops

and I may have to buy a land yacht to keep up with the Lloyds and Barnhills

Hmm, well I've got a "land yacht" but I"m not sure the spitfire could tow it. my land yacht is a '69 model airstream, and it's badged Land yacht right on the thing!

Tony

I would like to take my B to the Garage Raisin'since Chas and Kim live about two hours from me, but if I am gonna take a bunch of tools, I will probable have to take the ole Ford pickup or the Surburban...which I hope to replace with a TrailBlazer by then. BTW, did MG ever build a 4WD SUV??? Hmmmmmmm ;-))

Bruce (E Curb backwards) and not the Autoist either, but I can dream of a fleet of MG's!!!

Tony....your '69 Airstream Land Yacht is the precursor to my Land Yacht LE...hey, we'll have a caravan...my WBCC # is 7816....see photo below

So, Tony, Where is Gurley Alabama, anyways? I drive through 'bama all the time, I may have to stop by and see this Garage mahal of yours.

Tony (I've never actually used a pick up line)

FAQ: Where is theAutoist located?

My personal collection and the parts needed to support it are located on my property on the outskirts of Gurley, Alabama (my personal mailing address is in the next FAQ).

If you want to grab some parts or an old car for restoration, I'll have to take you to my satellite location in the nearby area since I'm not usually there.

But, about Gurley.

Gurley is a small bedroom community on US 72E just outside of and on the eastern edge of Huntsville. If you're familiar with Alabama, you know that Huntsville, the Rocket City, is "up north" near the Tennessee state line. You get to Huntsville via either I-65 from Nashville, TN or Birmingham, AL or via I-24 from Nashville, TN or Chattanooga, TN.

And, we're about half way between I-24 and I-65 just 3 miles off US 72E, 11 miles from Huntsville and 22 miles west of Scottsboro.

Coming from the east...

Traveling east from Huntsville on US 72E, turn left onto Brock Road (at the new Madison County High School); go about 2 miles & turn right onto Kelly Hill Road; go about 1 mile to a stop sign.

At that point, you've entered Big M Farms subdivision. Sycamore Road is the second street on the right after the stop sign. We're on the southwest corner of Sycamore & Nolan.

Turn right onto Nolan & then left into our drive (has decorative 6' wooden fence around drive & parking area).

Coming from the west...
Traveling from Scottsboro on US 72E, go through the small village of Gurley until you come to the new Madison County High School on your right. Turn right onto Brock Road immediately in front of the high school...Then, follow the directions above under "coming from the east" to reach us.
From wherever you originate, once you get to my house--and after you spend a bit of time perusing my private collection of cars, we'll drive "over the mountain" a few miles to get the parts you need for your project or to view an orphan car you want to adopt.

the Low is supposed to be 2 deg F. can I wait til Fri? it will be 19 then.

yes, chuck...you may wait til Fri...now, when you go look, think: would i want my wife running around it it? do i really have time to fix things that are wrong? will it take away from my mg time?

I can answer most of those questions without seeing it, Tony.

Would I want my wife in it. It's a corvair Tony.
Could I fix what's wrong? enough money will fix anything
Will it take away from my MG time? how far behind are you on all your projects now?

I'll go look Thursday
