? for Basil

What's a reasonable price? when I saw it, it needed paint, but all the metal was there, floorboards were intact, though somewhat weathered, and it wasn't running, but it had been before it was parked. I didn't buy it, since I was looking for parts for my spitfire when I came across the thing in a barn, the guy said it had been sitting there for years, and he'd just taken the tarp off a few days prior to see what was under it. That was more than a year ago, but I talked to him a few weeks ago, about some wire wheels for my '69. he said I was the only one who had bought anything from him, so I assume that the A would still be there. What should I offer for it?

Tony (I really don't need another project, but I admit, that the MGA is one of the best looking MG's ever made.....)

you'd have to get an opinion from Tony (the autoist) on that one. I've never seen a twin cam coupe sold

I took the cow off Tony!! It seems a guy from the Healey board didn't think it was appropriate, so I apologized and deleted it!! See, I told you I was a nice guy!!

Congratulations Tony, I saw your name on the List tonight. You are now one of us wether you want to be or not

Tony...looks like I need to come down your way & assist you...I sold my twin cam the same day my friend Don Smith & I pulled it out of its 40 year resting place because the engine was gonna require major, serious, $$$$'s repair...that'll probably be the case with this one, if its a twin cam - it could be a deluxe which is perfect for me!....however, I want another twin cam...so, let's see what he has before we discuss $$$'s....oh, when you go over to look & discuss the parts requests you've received, don't make a big deal over any of his cars yet...
...&, remember what my grandfather taught me, "The man who mentions $$'s first loses."

remember, Tony, I'm your official car inspector. Just send the expense money, I'll catch the first flight out

Thanks, now I don't have to visit you in the small hours and put a bat up your night dress

Basil Replies!

I'll go look at the MGA over the weekend, I still need to pick up my wire wheels, so I will have an excuse. Don't plan any trips here yet, let me see what I can get the thing for first. I usually tend to get fiarly good deals, (I paid $125 for my '69 with less than 30,000 original miles on it. the suspension bushings are original and still pliable.) So, I'll see what I can do.

Tony (...)

but Tony I want to come there. it is 11 deg F here. Tony (the autoist) is payin for it. It'll be the least he can do after I drive 100 miles in this weather to look at a corvair

Okay Chuck, the couch is warm, and the water is cold, (sorry I live at a church, and the closest thing to beer I could give you would be ginger-ale) the MG's are around, and I think I know about every british car in a junkyard, or backyard within about 150 miles. We could make a week of it. I'm afraid I don't know what the MG rarities are, but someone who does could probably find some interesting stuff.

Hey Chuck, it was no where near as bad as the sborder one you sent me and Kim!! I just think that you are being self righteous!!

As far as Tony, you know that if he wants it, he will pay the price!! They call him the 'BIG BUCKS KERNAL' (did I spell that right??)

youngsmith...here's a couple of photos as I was thinking the idea through...right now, the GT floor sits lower than in a GT but I'm thinking about breaking the spot welds on the GT floor extensions & welding them in my roadster so there's even more space under the floor!

I do know of a nice chrome bumper b in a junkyard about 50 miles from here, he also has some b-gt's. The chrome bumper car was running last I knew and he wanted something like $400 for it, the body was decent at recolection, but it's been a while since I saw it. I wasn't interested at the time, so didn't pay close attention. I think He may have had an mg-c as well, as I seem to remember a 6 cylinder.

anyone interested? (I've been looking for an excuse to head back over there....)

Tony (Aparently I have way too much time on my hands...)

See, now this is getting to be a real problem. I'm out of town for two days, and it takes me hours to catch up on all the posts . . .
