Can't seem to find my Lucas book at the moment, but I think you'll find that those high output alternators are substantially larger physically than the TR6 alternator. That doesn't mean they can't be made to fit, of course, just that it's not a simple "bolt-on" operation. Maybe Art has some outline drawings.
Also, as I've mentioned before, IMO that output connector is an inferior design and a common problem spot. No place for a quick-connect, let alone such a wimpy one. If you're going to do a conversion to "improve" things, might as well do it right and get a unit with a proper bolted connection.
Don, there are some other factors to consider; like max rpm and output at idle, but for the most part the alternator doesn't care what it's bolted to.
