TR4/4A Engine ground strap

I know this has been discussed but I could not decipher one thing. When attaching the lower engine ground strap going from the engine plate to the engine mount previous discussions indicate it attaches to the engine mount. Can it be attached to the top bolt (does this bolt go all the way thru the mount)? It does not seem long enough to reach underneath to the lower attachment. Or was I supposed to put it on underneath the mount between it and the frame (already have engine in)? Bruce

There's a hole in the upper rear of the engine mounting bracket (near the engine mount) for mounting the ground strap.
I hope this picture clarifies things.

Merlin- I have the TR4A IRS frame and mine does not have that convenient hole, I wish it did so still looking for an answer. Bruce

It all doesn't really matter much. You just need to make sure that the battery ground has a low-resistance path to the block, through cables that can carry a couple hundred amps.

I ran a thick cable from the battery's negative pole directly to the block, then ran a smaller braided strap from the block to the frame and to the body. I like to use a threaded hole in the frame or body to make ground connections, not a bolt and nut, as the threads provide a large contact area. This is certainly not how the factory did it, but I think it is a good way to go.

Guys - Thanks for the answers. I know I can ground several ways but what I was looking for is the original way that the strap attached to the motor mount. When I disassembled the car 10 years ago I of course did not document much of what I did (I am a guy what else is there to say). I would like to see how it was originally attached. So if someone would complete this sentence The ground cable attaches to the engine plate on one end and attaches to _______________________ specifically on the motor mount. On top of the motor mount? Underneath between the frame and the mount? Once again thanks for the replies I just still don't have the answer I wanted. Bruce
