Electrickery

Switch the G/B to # 1 on motor and G to # 2!! Had the same problem!
I have reviewed every wiring diagram I can get my hands on and the one I posted previously had green to #1 and black/green to #2. The Bentley manual, Gerard's Garage, and a few others show what Alan says...green to #2 and black/green to #1. The green wire comes from the fuse box, the black/green wire comes from the switch which has 3 black ground wires connected to the other post. In my mind that gives you 1 hot wire (green) and 2 ground wires (black/green from switch) and the black ground wire from the motor case. Thoughts?
Thanks, a very nervous when it comes to Electrickery Rut

Thanks guys! Scott, the wiper is the one drawing the power...the blower is good to go! Any advice on a wiper rebuilder?
Rut

You likely don't need a re-builder, but, wipers in these are notorious for jammimg with dried grease. You can open the drive, clean out all the old grease and put in new and I suspect that will solve some of the resistance issues - it should allow you to visually inspect the wires also for any grounds or spots where it has rubbed through.

Scott, Alan, all,
Thanks so much for your great advice! With much trepidation I swapped the green and green/black and everything works as it should! I'm sure I'll have additional questions as I assemble more of this car.
Thanks again, Rut

And does it matter if we are Positive or Negative Ground with the Wiper, Rut I think you mentioned keeping the Generator.

Did you order a new Wring harness that omitted the Voltage Regulator by any chance with the thought that you were going to be using an Alternator?

Not sure that adds any additional complication to this discussion or not.

Re your Multimeter, if you exposed the Ohms part of the Meter to Voltage you may have let the smoke out of your multimeter. Or at least on one of the Resistance Settings. If you open the back of the meter and see a burned resistor in there that's what happened.

Checked my BE and it has green to the top post and black with green to the bottom post with a black ground wire to the case. My Mk2 Midget has three spade terminals with black ground at the top and green middle with green and black bottom.

Kurt.

Jim,
Im negative ground with a British Wiring Bugeye harness in original configuration. I understand that the wiper doesn't care about - or + ground. I'm adding inline fuses and relays after I get everything installed correctly...did I mention that I really have a hard time with Electrickery?
Rut

Rut, I'm not much with the "Electrikery" either but if you play with Brit cars a while the color codes start to make sense. Think of electricity analogous to water in a hose. The voltage is the pressure and the current is the flow.

Kurt.

Kurt,
Thanks, I keep trying to do that, but you should see some of my plumbing! I was feeling pretty good about my progress today and decided to finish installing the dash...things went pretty good until the hard oil line hit the + post on the battery! DDCO me forgot to take the ground cable off the battery and I let some smoke out of the small gauge ground jumpers I made for the gauges. I was very lucky this time!
