Dowel bolt location

I have a question that I should know the answer to but, well, I don’t. Where do the dowel bolts that are used to align the bell housing to the rear engine plate go? I know that one goes through #1 in the picture below, but the Moss site and my manual don’t show where the second bolt goes. Thanks, Greg

Well Andrew, I had to you see the dowel bolt locations, when referenced to hands on a clock, come out as 11-and-5 oclock, Consequently, I couldn't figure out how to get the hands of Big Ben in the cubby box but the Otters fit in a nick.---Keoke /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Okay, but not that low; there's no engine block on the forward side of that (#6) hole, just a gap before the sheetmetal oil pan.

Only the one at 11 oclock threads into the engine block.---Keoke
 
Hi Randy,
The 2 dowel bolts are used to center the transmission to the engine. They should be the first to be fitted but they were back-ordered when I installed the tranny and I just haven’t gotten around to putting them in now that I have them. I think you’re talking about the dowels that locate the back plate to the engine block. Without those installed, the dowel bolts wouldn’t be very helpful. Greg, check the "bolts" for tightness in the bellhousing holes they should be a slight friction fit.

Thanks for the heads up on the bolt fit. I got sidetracked and couldn’t work on the car much last weekend.
