He's also badly mistaken about what he has. That's at least a late TR3, most likely an early 3A; not an early TR2. Note the Girling MC, wiper motor on LH side, H6 carbs, high port head, partially recessed headlight, chrome grab bar, paint on the instrument panel, inner door handles inside the pocket instead of outside. Some of those things might have been changed, of course, but it's not likely they all would have been changed.
Less than 100 cars were made in 1953, so if it really was a 53, it would be worth restoring. As it is, it's hardly worth dragging home to part out.
BTW, the routing of the speedo cable indicates no OD.
