He's also badly mistaken about what he has. That's at least a late TR3, most likely an early 3A; not an early TR2. Note the Girling MC, wiper motor on LH side, H6 carbs, high port head, partially recessed headlight, chrome grab bar, paint on the instrument panel, inner door handles inside the pocket instead of outside. Some of those things might have been changed, of course, but it's not likely they all would have been changed.

Less than 100 cars were made in 1953, so if it really was a 53, it would be worth restoring. As it is, it's hardly worth dragging home to part out.

BTW, the routing of the speedo cable indicates no OD.

That's definately a TR3a.
 
That car will need LOTS of work. If the inner panels in the engine bay have gone, everything else will be a mess too. You never know but...
 
Ooof! .. parts car. TR3A not a 53. It's awful, but not awfully rare. Would be worth getting very cheap if the engine is not seized, otherwise, there's not much of anything there.
 
Looks like there might be a rusty hardtop as well.
