In this weather, they'd be blue...
Unless they're brass & then there's a saying about that!

Just saw a post on Facebook: "Some monkey is missing its brass balls..."

Ah!

But, do you know what a "brass monkey" is & why the saying "Cold enough to freeze the balls off the monkey""

In Napoleonic times cannon balls were stacked high on a stand called a ‘brass monkey’. In winter water in the stand would turn to ice and expand, thus freezing the balls off the brass monkey.

Just a minute, I want to write that down....

Well, by the weekend there won't be any milk, breda or water on the grocery shelves around here....that's what the locals all stock up on when snow is forecast!

I always found that sort of funny. Up here where we are used to getting snow we never have a run on bread or milk. Still plenty on the shelf even before, during or right after a blizzard. But in the south they make a run on bread and milk with a heavier than normal frost. Can you give us any insight to that?

Make sandwiches and ceral for the kids. No power, no cooking.

You ex military guys know all the 'good' stuff.

Haven't a clue...we don't participate......my wife believes our Mormon friends have the right idea: enough food in the pantry/freezer to feed your family for 2 years!

Yeah, like I've said: Chicken Little was RIGHT: the sky IS falling! :wall:

Shawn same thing here and we're used to the weather as well....Walmart get's wiped out....it's mainly due to the power outages and county roads....all the power is still lines on poles above ground and if it goes down it can be down for days, as well as the county roads are opened with a grader....you wait your turn....when the storm hit XMAS day we didn't see a grader come down the road until Monday.....
