Datsun 5 speed Quick shift/short shift prototype

The critical thing (besides the offset) is the angle.
As I recall a 10 degrees.

Trevor,
I have a new iPad and the cloud has not been nice to me, so none of the old pictures are available. I hope what I do have makes sense. The first and third pictures show my early/failed attempts at making a short shifter by way of info I found on the Ratsun forum. The second picture is one of the newer versions like the 4th and 5th pictures installed showing it centered which keeps it from dislodging the rubber. I found a few old spare parts and made a new one thats pictured in 4 & 5. I took your advice and used coarse threads on this one and it’s basically a piece of 1.25ā€ square tubing with a bar of .75x1.25 cut at 45*, drilled and tapped for 5/16x18. The rounded bolt end was made on the drill press using an angle grinder. Once installed it’s a simple adjustment of screwing that bolt up or down to engage the pocket so it ā€˜feels’ good. You do have to add a Datsun nylon cup to the end of the ball to keep it from rattling and make it work smoothly. Everything you see pictured can easily be cut with wood working tools and I use a miter saw. The shift lever is from eBay as is the metal shift knob on the installed picture.
