Hello OZ BN1, Looks like nice work.
You are going to love the discs on the BN1.
I see you don't currently have the dust shields attached to the brake assembly. Does this mean you aren't going to use them?.
I did this when I fitted MGB discs to my BN1 thinking it would allow more air in. It probably did allow more air in but it also allowed the dust and everything else in and consequently wore out both inner pads in a very short time.
The outer pads had worn very little by then.
After installing the dust shields the new pads lasted quite a long time.
I don't know what the DW setup has for balancing front-rear.
On mine, to get the balance between front and rear brakes I first tried a brake compensator off the rear of a mini but I have doubts whether it worked or not.
I then started by reducing the length of the material on the rear brake shoes. The first time I removed about 25mm from each end of the shoe material for all 4 shoes. After this I removed more material until the rear brakes wouldn't lock on. Sorry but I don't remember exactly how much I removed as this was some 35 years ago.
(Before installing the discs I had just rebuilt the rear brakes and had new linings bonded on the full length of the shoes so there was plenty to play with when it came to cutting it off.)
Not long after I converted to rear discs but that is another story.
Hope this helps,
Best Regards,
bundyrum.
