Bad Habits

My wife was 8 weeks into quitting smoking via the patch when she had her recent heart attack. Although she thinks about the cigarettes, she actually found travel easier the other week when she was not searching for a smoking lounge in the airport, or going outside and having to come back through security after one quick smoke.

Okay, for those fighting cancer. Up your vitamin C intake.. I mean UP it. Vitamin C is water soluble, so what you ingest passes through your system in 2-3 hours.

Dr. Linus Pauling, who did more research with Vitamin C than anyone else, recommends 10-12000, that's thousand, units a day. Start by 1000 every couple of hours for a couple of days. Your body will stabilize after the initial unexpected trips to the john and toilet. But once things stabilize increase it to 2000 units every couple, three hours. Your body will reject, or pass through some, but still maintain over 80% ingested...

Also three or four apricot pits help keep the cancer in remission. We all have cancer in our bodies. It's just a matter of keeping it under control. Hopefully, so small where testing doesn't even detect it.

I am a cancer survivor (3 years of clean check-ups for laryngeal cancer!)and I totally agree with Ron on the vitamin C. Another important factor is that cancer thrives in an acidic environment ergo avoiding an excess of acidic foods etc. and taking calcium supplements (coral calcium has been recommended to me) is also of great benefit. Bodily acidity can be simply checked daily with some spit on litmus paper (pink-bad: green-good)!

Not to change the subject but,
My worst bad habit is, I like to fly airplanes! Why is that a bad habit? Because it costs a ton of money. I tried to find a patch to help remedy the problem, but to no prevail. Someone suggested I go to the local shrink, but he likes to fly also, so he's no help. It's really a no win situation. Now my son just told me yesterday that he has two more airplanes I can use whenever I want, so he's no help either. Oh well, I guess I'll just have to suffer and absorb the pain. Working on LBCs helps a little. But it's like taking a baby aspirin to cure a migraine headache. I guess I'm just hooked!

Hey Ron and Mike,

RE: skin Ca. fighters, I have also been told to increase one's vitamin D, big time, like 4 times the regular amount.

Nothing to compare to the cancer posts, but I gave up coffee, tea and deserts for Lent yesterday.

I made it through today on the road, where I encountered quite a few problems and I'm not under arrest for harming any of the idiots that I had to deal with, so I guess it's not too bad of a start. The kitchen cabinet contractor called me with a pricing issue and I took his head off, so other than that it was fine. I can do that to him because I'm the customer in that case, but I had to play nice with my customers today, so he got the brunt of my bad day.

I never realized how many times I stopped at Dunkin Donuts or had a cup of coffee during the day. I was thirsty all day and when I got home I had five (5) empty Poland Spring bottles in the car.

On th' bright side, coffee is NOT a hydrator. Ya did GOOD, Paul!! Including th' session with th' cabinet guy. "Therapy". Dealt with and over.

Drove right by DD's this morning and never even thought about stopping.

Drinking water a lot though, so that is good.

a cigarette tastes good with a cup of coffee.... But- the coffee tastes better with out the cigarette

Dudly,

The medical science people are finding out there is really no such thing as "normal" amount of nutritional supplements or vitamin intake.

The "standards" are going the way of the old food pyramid. Out of date as new info is being ingested.

As humans age they lose their ability to absorb B and D vitamins signifigantly. So what would be normal for a 30 year old, is not nearly enough for someone in their late 50's...

Good nutrition is the key to good health. And if for some reason you're not able to absorb the proper nutrients, nutritional supplements step up to the bat.

Sadly, a lot of Doctors are not picking up on proper vitamin intake and absorption. Guess they are being bombarded by too much info and the "weedeater" input gets by them.

About 18 years ago, I went in for annual exam with a new doctor. When he asked and I told him I was taking about 3000 iu of Vitamin C, he told me that was WAY to much and to cut back.

Last time I went to that doctor, who has since expired from cancer....And he was around 12 years younger than me.

Always get a Dr. who is younger to be sure that he (she) outlives you. Mine is a she and a looker to boot. First visit was for a hernia and felt a little strange dropping trou in front of her. Felt like a first time stripper.

:winner1: I am hoping Mark and Doc. We're all rooting for you. Coffee is much better without the cigarettes as is all the other pleasures of life. Be strong and fight the good fight. Before you know it, there will be no fights. You just have to trust me on this one.

:iagree: And BOY will everything taste better (including "morning breath!!)

OH YES Mike.

That is one bonus, plus breathing, and not having dirty windows on the car and house etc etc etc

Go GUYS I know you can.

Dave :grouphug:

He better not be lightin' up behind the shed..........

Oh gawd.... caught again.

My advice...
Or at least how I made some progress...

Don't stop...
Switch from unfiltered Camels to something with less nicotine.

Smoke something that is still smoking but is not your drug of choice.

Almost 16 years now.
And I only think about it once a month as opposed to many times a day.

As Jim Morrison said "DRUGS ARE A BET WITH YOUR MIND"
