TR2/3/3A Applying the Permatex copper gasket spray to the head gasket?

Are you supposed to let it tack up for awhile before torquing or do you torque as soon as the head is installed?

I don't think it matters much. I used it on my engine, let it have a few minutes to dry and installed it. No problems (yet).

I think I let it cure before installing; maybe 30 minutes. To make sure (1) it does not drip into places it's not supposed to be, and (2) I assumed it needs some thickness to seal, and I applied a few (light) coats. It should "ooze", not run.

The Permatex web page says you can pre-coat, so you can't go wrong with letting it dry. At the same time, the instructions do not include a requirement to let it dry... bottom line it probably doesn't matter.

Mike jogged my memory. I did use several coats with drying time--I forget exactly how much--between them.

I still use the Wellseal.

It should not be necessary but if you sleep better for it ,do it.
