Anyone interested in some swapping?

Really!? I can't find anything up here. I've owned the car since I was 14, and I've never had it on the road! I got so frustrated that I bought two MGs! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

At this point I'd be happy to fix the rust, get the body straight, shoot it in black primer, rebuild the engine and tranny, and drive around with no carpet or stereo and one seat. I'm desperate!

My Dad had a Mustang II he bought new, I remember that when the a/c came on @ 65mph it would slow down 5 mph. Definitely down on power...I also recall it being potent chick repellant!! Stick to the MG's!!

I've wanted a Mustang since I can remember, and I chose the smallest, lightest one I could get my hands on. If I could only get the rust sorted out, I'd be all set for rebuilding the 302. I can't wait to have a relatively small and light car with small-block V8 power. They were down on power but it's nothing a trip to the junkyard and Summit Racing can't fix.

The 302 mustang IIs were definitely quick. Mine was a 1974 model and a v6, 1974 was the only year they did not put a v8 in a mustang. I can't help you much with the v8 stuff. Most of what I have is for the 2300cc ford motors.

Any body, chassis, or suspension parts?

No, I gave the whole car away after the shifter messed up on me coming home from work and I had to drive 10 miles in 2nd gear. My car had no rust, it did have a 3.55:1 differenetial that was positraction, but I let it all go. I only have 4 cylinder engine parts and one rebuilt motor and an auto tranny.

I can fix the Blue Dot for Hi Beam. Simple go to local Drug Store / Office Supply Place. Pick out whatever shade of plastic folder report cover you want. USe a hole punch and punch out a Dot. Lamp for hi bream comes apart. Use pencil to push Blue Dot to bottom of lamp housing. Still not dark enough, add another blue dot.

Mustang II's, bought a new '74 Mach 1. POS Car from the word go. Tranny want out at 100K. Drove without reverse for 2 years almost. Just needed to be clever when you parked and got a whole lot more exercise in as well. No guts with that V-6 under the hood. Traded in on a '78 Corolla SR-5 Liftback. Now that was an awesome car, 250K miles plus, but after 10 years in WI winters tried to change a tire and put jack through floorboards. Not one for not rusting but fabulous engine. Original clutch went to 210,000 miles.

The thing is that I don't have the lamp holder at all. I just have the bulb but not the part that fits in the dash.

Is there just a hole in the instrument face? (Mine is in the speedo, at the bottom!)

Yep, I don't remember it missing when I used to drive the car but I must have lost it or broken it. I could not find it when putting my dash back together.

Does the speedo have the piece attached to the back that the bulb plugs into?

OK, you can either use the method above and glue a little blue piece of plastic behind the little hole in the face, or by melting blue plastic (from a CD jewel case cover for eg) make a little Ball and drip it onto the "face" side of the hole. (this looks quite original!) The secret to melting the plastic is just the right temp. Too hot and it scorches, too cool and it takes forever! Melt it on tin foil in the oven...try to avoid direct heat!

Yes, its just an open hole in the dash. I have the orange one so I know exactly what it looks like. Its a black tube about 1 1/4" long with a crome bezel at one end and the blue on it. I really need the tube so the bulb will stick in it and have the edge that fits snuggly in the dash. Mine is a 71, the older ones must have been different. I was thinking of looking around at an auto parts store for something more modern that might fit in the 1/2" hole. In that cas I will replace the alternator light and the high beam light.

My 69 has the very thing you need if it is the light just below the orange one! The plastic itself is a little faded (just a tinge of blue left around the edge)the chrome surround needs polishing up a bit, but you are welcome to it! A solution for the faded plastic can be found in a Craft store. In most of them you can find small jars of paint for creating fake stained glass. that will work perfectly to restore the color. PM me to give me you address and I will send it off!

Yup, that's what I just pulled... right where that empty hole is on your dash!! It's on its way in the AM! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif
