Anyone interested in some swapping?

Thanks Chris.

Derf,

if Zimmy isn't interested in that piece, I may be! I know you say it's crusty...is it straight (err...curved properly, undented? /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif ) Any significant rust, or just minor surface?

This is a great idea guys! I have a bunch of stuff as well. I'll sort through what I can. Off the top of my head, I have (3) lever shocks that I assume need rebuilding, I have a black boot rack for luggage, I have a set of aluminum interior rail covers that aren't too shabby (slight bending on corners fixable with pliers, could use some brillo pad clean-up). I'll see what else I have. If anyone is interested in anything, I can throw up some pics. I'd be willing to sell cheap or swap /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/yesnod.gif May be persuaded to "donate" if shipping is paid /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif I have a whole box of heavy metal parts, I think some trans things and an axle (however, I'd probably want to hold onto that if it's decent for a spare).

regularman, I know nothing about differentials - could I simply swap these into my '68 with the 4.22's and it'd work? I know most setups I see for sale are an assembly, but I also know the assemblies can be broken down into the ring and pinion.

You have to use shims and get the pinion depth correct and then use shims to get the ring gear backlash right, but these gears should fit in any of the differential housings. Most people just swap the whole hogshead, third member, final drive, whatever you want to call it, but you can change out the gears. I changed mine to a 3.55:1 ratio because it was running too high an rpm for me on the highway.

Kim, if it's straightforward as a "regular" rear end swap (i.e., muscle car Chevy or similar), then I have a very experienced uncle who I am sure could help me. I'm sure I could figure it out, but I have never done one.

I am thinking these with the 5 speed conversion would be what I am looking for. I, too, want to lower RPM's, however, I also want the car to be as quick as it can reasonably be. I think a 3.55 might be a little more reduction than I'd like.

Please let me know what you'd want for them. Budget is tight, but a deal's a deal!!! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

Its not the straight forward rearend swap. That would be where you change out the entire 3rd member. This is where you change out the gears themselves. I too have the 5 speed conversion and with the 3.55 hope to do well on the highway. The datsun 1st is a little lower than the Mowog one so it should work out about the same.

thats EXACTLY what i need!
also a blinker LENS (only), and a
rear SIDEMARKER.....my plastic part
is busted,... the lenses and chrome
are fine.....
lemme know what u need for all that,...
where are u located?

me (and my crashee) will be VERY greatful...
looking at it everyday depresses me!
PM me please, as the email on my computer is
messed up from upgrading from ME to XP...thx...zimmy

Kim,

What I mean is, as far as shimming and whatnot. My uncle's rebuilt dozens of muscle cars, I'd assume the setup is the same deal for the spridget? Either way, worst case is I have a shop do it.

So, just let me know how much we're talking (I assume they are in good shape, correct?) Thanks!

ewwww, took one in the snoot. I could fix that fender and the hood with a hammer and dolly but that lower is mushed. Looks like it has a think layer of bondo on it already. Good luck with that zimmy. If I used that rusty peice I would coat it with POR-15 and then prime it. That stuff is great on rusty metal.

i already did the fender...looks much better now...
the middle part is a mess though.
since i plan on painting it this summer, i thought
i should get a replacement instead of hiding it....
on a better note, it IS running well /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif .....z

I am hoping to fire mine up and give it a good test out as soon as my wife finishes with the furniture staining that is blocking my midget in the basement. Its gonna be a bare bones check out. No hood, fenders, trunk, doors, windshield, seats, etc.

I've got 3 cars worth of parts and a 71 roller. Schtuff galore. It kinda just appears.

Dont' need much an got an extra one a them too. I've slowly been listing Midget spares on eBay for TD parts or saving for another to add to my collection.
Do you have any specific needs?

~Marque hijack, but I'll make it quick~
I do need GT wiper arms, both, stainless steel type, that'd be fantastic if you have some you could let go.
PM me with $ req's. Cheers.

I can already see where this "flea market" is going to require some organizational skills along the way!!! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/crazy.gif /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif
We're each gonna have to open a little "booth" to show our stuff and "offer" it for swaps or something!!

Mike -- that was my idea for my online setup

(as a reminder: https://www.drooartz.com/index.php?page=39 )

Or, we need to make use of the BCF classifieds to list this stuff. I've got a few things I'm looking for as well, would be nice to be able to do some searches through the parts lists.

If we were interested, I'm ready to go on my end. Just need a list of folks interested and their contact emails.

Chris -- You've got a PM about one of your Bugeye tachs...
