A question for the electrical crowd.

Although I didn't read the voltage when it happened, I believe the voltage drop was much greater the first time I noticed the problem, as the light almost went out. From what I read, this is a dangerous condition as the appliance will call for more amperage. (I'm no electrician). I just shut off the a/c and the voltage went up to 117 which is in the normal range. It was 125 this afternoon. Since we never had this problem ever, I have to believe it's either the fault of the power company or due to my 3 wires being tangled under trees although they are still connected to the house. Any help you can give me will be appreciated as I will eventually be speaking to Eversource - if they ever show up.

Could it be one or both of the live lines coming to the house have been pulled partly lose by the tree and are not making a good enough connection to carry the higher load. Hope the power company get out to you soon.

Voltage went up to 127, now reading 124.4. Is this normal?

As the demand on the main power service changes U may also see minor changes in your local home line voltage.

Repairmen finally showed up this am and going to work. We have a small wooden pole that the wires attach to from the street. When that goes up, phone company can come and hook up land line wire. They will check all wires.

Paul - just a heads up. When they did our area, we learned that telephone crew can only work on telephone lines at the house. Electric crew can only work on electric lines on the house. Cable crew can only work on cable lines on the house.

Eight men out there now working. I think they're from Tennessee judging by their accents. These guys deserve all the praise for what they do. They're sinking what appears to be a wooden telephone pole in the ground to accept the wires from the street. They disconnected the neutral and ground wires so I still have power to type these words.
