MGB 25D dizzy rebuild

I recently removed dizzy and electronics from my 75
It had a 25D with old electronic ignition. I am going to put in points and condenser. Upon removing the old electronics I see on the base plate an area that has been filed/ground off.
Does anyone know what was there?
It’s on the right side of the picture

I feel I don’t have enough information about my engine yet that he needs to recurve the dizzy.

And what has been ground off was the pivot post for the points.

I have a British car used parts source near me that I’m going to tomorrow. I should be able to get anything I need..thanks again for your help.
 
Another bit of info; you can get replacement points sets from NAPA or other parts stores. "StanPart" Standard Ignition Products. Rotor is: LU-300, not recalling points P/N, LU-316 or LU-319 maybe. Lucas numbers are: DSB958C for points, DRB101C for rotor.
 
I got all of the parts installed and in the car. All I need now is the wire that goes from the distributor to the coil.
 
A ten inch piece of 12-gauge multi-strand with female ends, wrapped around a pencil to coil it!

We wanna hear "VROOM!!!" :D

And use that Lucas magnetic proximity unit for a door stop! That's about all it's good for. 😏

Others may defend it but in my experience a mag proximity ignition is bollocks. You can carry an entire spare points-type dizzy plate with all parts attached, in the glovebox, for a few bucks.
