When Ted (TSI) built and supplied my head for my 71 he said I didn't need to use the oiler and didn't recommend it.It's been a while but I think something about to much oil.

Are you using roller rockers? I've been told they are more beneficial with roller rockers but not really needed with standard rockers. Even by Ted.

Could be, You mean I gave my oiler away for nothing???

might add up, (making sure i'm sat down, and deb is out & about) and post !!

Good thinking - I know my wife would have a major fit over the kind of money you've probably spent. So far, my TR has actually financed it's own restoration (selling things not being used to buy parts I need) My first real expense is going to be the replacement frame I'm going to have to get ... and really can't afford right now. Which is why I look with such envy at what you're accomplishing!

Please keep us updated! (read: more pics!)
