great to have some colour on the spitfire. damask red, with on a scale of 0-10, 7 of black.time to re-fit some "bits"!have added some aluminium floorplates,as i don't use carpets etc.the engine will be incorparating tld's cam, billet crank, carrilo con-rods,lightened flywheel(metal),forged pistons, arp fastners, roller rockers,1.65-1,phos' coated cam followers, more than likely smith bros pushrods, titanium upper valve spring seats, zero deck,10.5-1comp head, ported and flowed by tld.have'nt decided about oil pump,or dry sump system yet.and the exhaust will be either 6-3-1-2 custom stainless,or manifold from tld, custom made back pipe, back boxes.electric water pump, and aux rear radiator.oh yes hopefully vandervell bearings, engine shop say they can get them. any thoughts gratefully recieved.

which springs?
you gonna use viton or teflon seals on the guides?
make sure the lifters are hardness tested.
that's it for me. you've pretty much got the rest sown up!
please post the dyno #s when it's built.

thanks for reply alana, in his e-mails tld has said he uses esky springs.i did'nt use seals last time i ran car, i am in two minds to incorparate this time,as with everything there seems to be two camps regarding them.typical! which would you use and why please? i am hoping for the advised figures, 202bhp, and 215ft lb torque, @ 6000, will post dyno results during new year, we'll see if thats a reality!! yes, i will have followers hardness tested, thanks. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cheers.gif

thanks for reply dnk,the roller rocker kit i used last time required the use of high pressure external oil feed kit.i did'nt find any problems using the external feed.some people use this kit with restrictor.what are your thoughts for and against please? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cheers.gif

Traditionally, the front of the rocker assembly on the 6 will be starved for oil, as witnessed by pulling the valve cover off a well-used TR6 or GT6 head and viewing some really gunked up rockers in the front. I found this on the head of my current TR6 when I first purchased it.

Now, when I do the macho thing and needlessly adjust my roller rockers, the whole train is wet and shiny with fresh oil, thanks to the addition of the external oil feed. I still get excellent oil pressure and have not resorted to choking it down with a sleeve.
