Looks like we need to get ready for next year's calendar. 2010 seems to be missing something...

Heck, we should have a Spit only calendar
grin.gif

You mean that there are 12 Spitfires still running??

And you're right about no Spitfires in the 2010 calendar. Did any of you guys submit pictures?? No you didn't. The closest to a Spitfire entered in the contest was a GT6.

Just remember, next year will be a lot tougher. The bar keeps raising. Heed the words of head zookeeper Basil. Start looking for great places to photograph your car. He places high emphasis on the setting of where the car is photographed.

Check out this years calendar carefully, and you'll see what Basil is looking for. I was fortunate enough to have two of my images make it to the 2010 calendar. The front cover, and April.

BTW, did you guys buy any calendars??? It helps support the forum...it's still early in the year...April, my month!

Got my bumper yesterday... and a grab handle is on the way! Thanks to Spitbits and KSIS.

Will update with pics after I get it installed and cleaned up.

Anyone know a good polish for the chrome?

No problem on the part! A good polisher is a product called neverdull. Try ACE hardware. Got very personal with it in the Navy! You could always use very fine steel wool.

You used the word "quickly"! I knew what I was in for, even before my father-in-law's TR3.

What color is the '64 Spit? Any pics?

The 64 is Triumph 32 aka Signal. It was the original color.

I never have figured out how to post pics. I need to learn though.

I always upload my pics to a website like PICASA then paste the photo links into my posts on here.

PM me if you really need detailed instructions.

Oh... And the bumper is $500 + shipping + $150 core charge for those of you not aware of that. I am looking to have my old one straightened and chromed to see if I can recoup some of that.

Mirrors arrived... A lot nicer than the plastic crap that was on the car. I hope to attach this weekend.

Also have bumper hardware. Anyone have a decent set of overriders they don't need?

Our cars look a lot alike. How is your bumper mounted on there? That is a bit different. I see we both have WA. plates, as well. And... both seem to be sporting a bit of bonnet bashing. We have slightly different grills, too.

I still need new seals and eventually some shiny paint.

Does yours still have the exhaust manifold? Mine has a header on it. Maybe I'll take a few pics of the engine bay for you.

I look forward to some current photos.

I meant to ask you... Do you have an 1147 in yours? What's the story with those non-SU carbs... what are they, etc? Have you done any engine work?

My bumper is actually off a VW bug. The Webers are long gone as I had SU's built. I have the 1300 will a modified header from a 1147 and stainless steel exhaust..
Those pics are when my buddy picked it up in Washington. I have since relocated the front name badge where it belongs and found a logo for the front from the parts car. The grill is an after market Amco as well as the hubcaps.
I went to the junkyard this morning looking for an electric fan. My seals will be here monday so I will pull the motor and tranny this weekend and clean them up. I plan on detailing the motor and engine compartment next week.

I was wondering how somebody got a set of Webers on an 1147. lol Guess I know. That VW bumper fits quite well! I have a bent up bumper, but can't find anyone in the area to straighten and chrome it for a decent price. I also have a set of grills that I don't think I'll need. I need to post my roll bar up somewhere as well. I don't plan to put it in.

I think I'll clean up my wheels this coming fall/winter. I don't want to pull the engine and tranny until I can save up for a new exhaust. Then I can do that all at once. I am trying to keep my car as though it is 45 years old. I like the pristine ones, but I sort of like the "used" look more.

For now, I'm glad it starts easily and drives. Hopefully I can get it on the road for a few short trips and my 2 mile commute. I have a few things to do to my Mazda.
