1961 3000 Restoration

She is finally up and running! Special thanks to Jim Karaba(healeyblue) for finding a spare lower distributor housing and letting me purchase it from him. The first one had a catastrophic failure upon initial start up.

Progress at the body shop over the last few months.

Congratulations on the progress!

When mine was painted, the shop took the fenders off so they could paint the back side. Not original, but helps in preservation.

I did not think the car was going to be painted yesterday due to the humidity, but I guess my painter managed to get the temperature low enough in the booth to spray.
More pictures of the body work and the car in base coat clear coat. I had him use SPI black epoxy, followed by Evercoat Slick sand, then more reduced epoxy as a sealer, and finally SPI's Black and Universal Clear Coat.

My painter just sent me a picture of the passenger door. He just finished wet sanding and buffing it. I'd say it turned out pretty nice! I can't wait to see it in person.

My first thought was "that's not the door". It took me a minute to realize that was the reflection from the door - WOW!

Beautiful! My BJ7 is going to stay black. Black shows every little imperfection in the body work. Getting the body right so that it doesn't show imperfections through black is a real challenge. Your body guy knows what he's doing!
