Greg, I was curious about your tri-carb setup picture in your post signature and decided to research your old posts to learn more about it and you. I discovered this wonderful thread and thoroughly enjoyed your saga and the interesting contributions of others including Dave Russell. I'll have to do some more research to find out more about your car and how it runs now and about your flame paint job...

Hi Tim,
The flame job was a joke. My dad (who was the original owner) gave me the car in 2000. Every phone conversation we had, he'd rib me saying "So when do I get <span style="font-weight: bold">my</span> car back?" I downloaded a photo from the internet, added the flames and spoiler and sent him the photo saying: "The car is done, when do you want to pick it up?"

I'm glad you cleared up the paint job, now how's it running -- did the carb setup work out like you hoped?

The carbs work great, though they do need some fine tuning. The car went off to a body shop shortly after I got the motor running. That was the beginning of a long painful process where the body shop guy didn't really know anything about how Healeys went together. Not too surprising, he went out of business in April, so the car is back in my garage until I can get back to work on it.

As a more recent joiner of the BCF I had not seen this thread before.....I'm glad it got resurrected as it provided some excellent reading. Really great work!....I love the well thought out and executed custom work.

Hello GregW,
I saw an article in the magazine Moto Tech May/June today and immediately thought of you and your 1500cfm.

The 2009 Yamaha YZF_R1 has new Mikuni throttle bodies that not only have a bore of 45mm but they also have dual injectors per butterfly. One on top and the other coming up from underneath the throttle body.

The lower injector is controlled by the rider (quite how it didn't say) without the computer controlled secondary throttle (???)of some other systems.

I'm sure that there will be someone else here on the forum who is quite willing to encourage you to look into this system just based on the fact that you must need something else to work on in your spare time (joke!!!!!!).

Thanks for that. I've actually been looking for some new carbs for my motorcycle. Then ones I want have been hard to track down. Maybe two 45mm throttle bodies are just the ticket. The OEM carbs are 48mm.

That's one nice bike that I had never heard of. I researched it and am very impressed. Same weight as my 500, but more than twice the power. You live in the right place for bikes and Healey's, unlike me. Also, my wife let me get mine in 1973, then after riding on it and hearing about all the statistics, has banned me from getting another, so I've kept mine all these years.
