installed a new wiring harness for 1968 mgb. This harness is wired for a 5 wire alternator with an external regulator.
I'm wanting to install the later 3 wire alternator with internal regulator. I will buy the adaptor to convert the 5 wire setup to the 3 wire setup, no problem, but what should i do withe the external regulator.
leave it plugged in
leave it unplugged
change some/any of the wiring?

If you're getting the three wire adaptor, get the faux regulator and follow the included instructions on wiring connections. It is internally set up to be used with an alternator that is internally regulated...
