Tony deer issue.jpgTony hit a deer this morning and crunched the hood and drivers fender. Anybody have extras they want to get rid of? TR4, 1962.

Oh no! Glad that it wasn't any worse and hope everyone is OK.

Hopefully that wasn't one of the early short bubble hoods.

I can't say what first came to mind, and I'm sorry I can't help. Looks like a super nice car, love the color.

Tell me what you mean by short bubble hoods because I will need to know what we should be looking for. Tony was not hurt although the deer did not make it. Hood and drivers fender are crushed. front scuttle and grill. Most everything else came through.

Jerry,

tried sending you a PM. Saw a TR4 grill in gage Bay Area, hood in Fresno. Both in Craigslist.

Early TR4's have a shorter in length bugle (bubble) on the hood. The bubble doesn't go all the way back to the edge of the hood near the bulkhead. Stops maybe 4-6 inches away where a later TR4, 4A and 250, the bubble comes just about all the back to the edge. Any of the hoods will fit the same but the short bubble is correct for the 62 and 63 TR4. Post us a picture of the back of the hood at the end of the bubble and we can identify it.

I will get Tony to take a picture of the hood. It is at the insurance repair place now. The insurance company actually recommended the same place that painted the car 4 years ago. I know they will not be able to find the parts needed so I volunteered to help track them down. I think we can buy new everything but the hood. But we may not want a new fender. I tried to fit a new TR3 fender on my TR3 and it was a nightmare.
I sent the ads to tony to start calling on the hood. He will probably buy a new grill as the one that was in there was only 4 years old.
Ken in Loomis! where do you live? I am on Whiskey Bar.

I think the short bubble hood was only fitted up to CT6429.

Ken, join the USBCC.org club. We go on drives all the time. Went last weekend in the beautiful 70's weather. We had 24 people on the drive. Two TR6s and lots of other cars.

Hey Jerry, I was at the Dixon show last year. I'll have my car there this year!

As far as I know they are the same except for the extra holes in the TR4A/TR250 fender for the side marker and the rivet holes for the molding/beading that goes into it which you will have to close up.

One other difference between the earlier TR4 hoods and the late Tr4's and TR 250's is the hood buffer points at the rear of each side of the underside of the hood. The early TR4 has a flat hood buffer but the later TR's all had a conical buffer. This conical buffer fits up into a molded depresssion in the hood. While he early TR4 hood is just flat. I am guessing that if you did get a later hood that switching the hood buffers would take care of the difference.
