DOES ANYONE HAVE A LIGHTENED FLYWHEEL AND DOES IT REALLY MAKE THAT BIG OF A DIFFERENCE ? WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE ? REV UP QUICKER ?

I have a dramatically lightened flywheel on my car. As the result of fitting an MGC xmsn, there was zero free play in the throwout brng, so the entire face was skimmed 0.125". The entire area outside the clutch cover was removed down to the height of the ringgear, and as much material as possible was removed from the backside, concentrating mainly on the outer perimeter.
Provision was also made for a higher performance clutch at the same time; the flywheel was drilled/tapped for a Ferrari 365 GTB/4 (Daytona) diaphragm pressure plate and a 1 x 23 friction disc. The clutch was sourced through Paeco, but the AP (manufacturer's) numbers cross over to the Ferrari application.
Throttle response is instantaeous, particularly when combined with the 45 DCOE Weber setup /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cheers.gif
