Vent window & waist moulding sealing correct BJ8?

Hello Team!

I have completed a restoration of my passenger side door including new glass seals and brush bar and a rebuild of the window regulator.

I have also attached a rechromed waist moulding, but am looking carefully at the area where the vent window's guide post goes into the door cavity.

There seems to be a 1 inch gap between where the main outer window seal ends and where the vent window surround seal starts. This leaves a 1 inch gap where water could potentially enter the door. The rubber window seal seems to be the proper dimension when aligned to the end of the door.

I was wondering if someone could take a look at the attached image, and let me know if I have done something incorrectly, or should I get out a tube of black silicon?

andrew. the rubber piece appears to be missing a piece but its not, the fit should look more like this see attch. looks as if your window post is too far inboard, how do your doors fit?

Hi Andrew that area up under the door top chrome fitting must be packed with Dum Dum. However, it appears that the gap on your car is unnecessarily wide at that point.--Fwiw--Keoke

Andrew,

Are you sure you have the chrome top finisher attached correctly? The S shaped clips should go on so the U portion that clips to the door sheetmetal is on the inside of the chrome flange. There is also a tab at the front of the chrome finisher that goes over the door sheetmetal (sometimes hard to get this installed correctly).

Thank you Anthony for your pictures (and the smiling face)!

The door seems to fit fine to the windshield post. I will try and adjust the post slightly as well as follow with the dumb dumb application and a few extra clips as well.

It is interesting to note that this area before disassembly was the only location on the door with evidence of slight rust. I guess they did not fully think out how to prevent water from getting in the crack there.

I will sort it out and put some wax-coating in there too.

Andrew,

I took a look at my vent window and finisher (which are not installed) and it appears the cut out on the finisher should go farther forward. I marked up your picture to show the where I think the cutout should line up. Anyway, you might want to take a look at the alignment of these parts.
