TRSC's Great Looks/Great Books @ Autobooks
Over fifty Triumphs were on display at Autobooks/Aerobooks in Burbank, California on Sunday, April 26th when the Triumph Register of Southern California presented their third annual Great Looks/Great Books event.
The event organizer, Rick Perrotta and his staff filled the parking lot, the side street, and even the side walk in front of Autobooks with a plethora of TRs.
Aside from the normal gathering of TRs we were also treated to a beautiful 1947 Roadster belonging to member Gary Cooper and Bryan Reeses's Standard 10 which displayed a sign in it's rear window which stated; "Don't laugh, it gets 43 miles per gallon."
Jay Leno made an appearance with his red TR3 and made a point of inspecting every car, posing for pictures, shaking hands, and chatting with everyone. Yes, a regular guy!
The local NBC affiliate, Channel 4, had a crew from their LA car culture show Whipnotics there to tape the event. They spent several hours taping the event showing the various models and featuring several cars. I had the pleasure of being photographed and providing commentary for the taping. Eat your heart out, Alain de Cadenet!
In addition to enjoying the the cars, venue, and like minded company the participants were awarded numerous raffle prizes which were generously donated by Autobooks, E-Z Lift, Moss Motors, Victoria British, The Roadster factory, British Wire Wheel, Macy's Garage, Meguiar's Polishes, and Mother's Polishes.
Autobooks was so pleased they'd like us back so prepare yourself for the spring of '09 when Rick will work his magic again for a super event!
