TR6 TR6 Choke cable adjustment?

I have an issue with the choke cable control on my 73 TR6. I can pull it out and turn it clockwise to lock it and warm up the engine. When I start to drive it away it will release and push it's self in which causes an embarassing sputter or stall. It is very difficult to hold it out while trying to shift.

Is there any adjustment on the choke control cable?

Not really an adjustment, but it may be repairable. At least some of them have a brass blade that catches the notches in the shaft, and the brass wears out. I was able to disassemble and replace the blade (it's just a semi-circular piece of flat brass).

OTOH I understand this was a common problem even when new ... somewhere I have a genuine ST clothespin (courtesy Jonmac) to clip on the choke cable shaft

If you don't get a chance to take Paul up on his offer, you might want to check the detent ball that engages a notch on the fast idle cam. It might be gunked up and not finding a home in the notch in the cam.
The detent ball should engage the notch at around 1100-1200 rpms.
