TR6 tr6 axles

hi all, i am wondering if anyone has redone their axles by rebuilding and putting a grease fitting on the sliding part of their axles or has replaced with nissan 280z axles? if so can you share your experiences/tips etc with me? thanks guys

Randy, it looks like most tr6 owners dont even like to talk about axels!!!
I can only say that if you use good quality u-joints and grease they can last a long time with a properly aligned rear sus. Never put in a joint with-out re-packing it with a HQ moly grease,they come packed in snake oil!
There is a conversion to 300z bits that can be had with GoodParts,but I have not tried it(and hope I don't have to)

The person I bought my TR6 from had done a lot of experimentation with suspensions. If I remember correctly, he ended up using a Datsun 510 rear end.
Doesn't answer your question, and I don't know the similarities/differences between the two.

Randy, For what it's worth:

I have had both rear axles apart as recently as 2 weeks ago.
I cleaned them up and and replaced the grease with moly.
Both axles looked good and this IS the Crypt Car we of which
we are speaking. I don't know if a grease fitting is worth
the effort.

And yes, I have also replaced all the u-joints.
You should do this also as a matter of probably needed
long term maintenance. Excellent point, to remove the
needle bearings, totally clean off the white shipping
grease and repack with moly.
