Source for a push/pull DPDT switch?

I want to replace the hazard switch in my TR6 and Dan Masters says to just use a DPDT switch without a center off position to fix all your problems... the only problem I'm having is I can only find DPDT switches in 'toggle' form, and I would like to use a push/pull switch instead.

I have searched all over, and I'm almost to the point where I'll make a push/pull switch out of normal toggle switch by adding pivot hinges to the end of the toggle and mounting it horizontally behind the dash.

Justin, why not use a rocker switch?

One solution might be to use a simple on/off switch, and a DPDT relay (or pair of SPDT relays).

Or poke around on eBay and find a reproduction of the original for a reasonable price. I managed to find one for $25 a few years ago. Not sure if it would be correct for your TR6, but it is a push-pull DPDT switch.

BTW, I'm pretty sure Dan was thinking of a toggle switch. I've never seen a push-pull switch with "center off".

believe it or not your flap probably has one on the shelf.

They have been sold since forever as hazard switches. Beige knob, push pull dpdt switch.

Looks like the heater blower switch on the TR6. Hole size might be the problem.

It should not have a center off, the hazard switch is a DPDT switch without a center off, but the original lucas ones suck, real bad =D

The one on ebay there is exactly what I'm trying to get away from entirely and go with a modern equivalent =)

It looks like Mouser does have a DPDT push-pull switch, though finding it was a pain =P I'm trying to get a circuit diagram of their switch to make sure it's what i need.

If you are looking for a modern equivalent then go with the relay idea. That way you have a lot of options for the actual switch and knob. All you will need is a simple on off switch and let the relays do the rest.

Right. My point was just that it makes no sense to even mention "without center off" if one is talking about a push-pull switch, as they don't come that way. If a push-pull switch has an "off" position it is at one end, not center.

Ok, if you say so. Mine seems to work fine, but then I don't use hazard flashers very often

And I did spend some quality time with it, cleaning out casting flash and lubricating so it slid smoothly.

Every time I had a problem with my turn signals or signal brightness or whatnot it always traced back to my hazard switch. I've pulled the thing apart and rebuilt it a few times and it's still bad. Just using a modern DPDT toggle switch made all those problems go away, but i like the push-pull aesthetic.
