Roaster Factory Investment Plan

Did a search on this subject and did not see any posts, not sure if this subject is off-limits, but thought I would give it a shot.

Anyone get involved in the Roaster Factory Investment Plan and would care to share their experiences??? Understand it's a real risk, but I'm tossing it around and want to see if anybody has had any luck with it.

Thanks for the info.

I don't believe it is as much a risk as it once may have been. TRF seems to be doing much better as far as backorders are concerned, which to me translates the company is gaining strength.

I've been an investor for 6 years now and have received a check in the mail every month.

If you got money to invest put it in the stock market, no risk their HA HA. I think TRF is much stronger that they were a few years ago. And with his son involved with the company now that could make it even better. I don't like the idea of getting a check every month, I would much rather see it reinvested. Much better return that way.

Doug, Phil, Don & Keith,

Lot's of positive info out there, appreciate it. I'm getting a lot of inqusitive looks from everyone I talk to about it, and some of them even own Triumphs. I need to get additional info from them on the plan, and maybe even try to talk to Chuck. Not a big, gamblin' type, but I don't see them folding up their tents, anytime soon. Not sure exactly how he can afford to pay the %, but apparently he's not missing the montly payments. heck, the money will undoubtedly go right back into the Triumph!!

Thanks Again,

Joe

If you are going to spend a lot of money with them it's a good idea, like a complete resto.

Don is right. With the discounts that you get, it is s good investment if you plan to do a lot of work on your car.

Chances are you won't get the opportunity to speak to Charles on the phone. More than likely, you'll talk to John Swauger.

Most of the work that needs to be done on the car is upgrading the engine and trying to add some performance (73,600 mi.)Eventually overhaulin' the whole thing (maybe with TRF) and throwing in a 5 speed, either factory or Toyota conversion. So that would add up. Sometimes if you catch stuff on sale, yuor getting the discount anyway. Not sure if he calls himself Charles or Chuck, but a Chuck answered the phone recently.

Chuck who answers the phone is in sales. Charles is the owner. My bad.

They do carry some performance parts, and sell some of Richard Good's products. I can't answer about the 5 speed. Go through the parts manuals and talk to sales to get an idea on availability of some of the higher ticker items.

Charles was always big on quality and leaned more toward originality in the past. The 5 speed isn't something he probably would have carried 20 years ago had it been available. Though he has been a long time supporter of Richard Good and Goodparts.

If you haven't already looked at Richard Good's website, check out www.goodparts.com. He has been making and selling quality performance parts for the TR6 for probably close to 20 years.

Richard is top drawer. He stands behind his designs and products. Not saying that others don't but Richard is always there to help.

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone !
IF you are considering a ground up restoration project, the TRF investment program would be a smart decision, IMO. The investment period is five years.........a ground up deal could take at least 2 or three. I don't think Charles has EVER missed a payment to an investor.
Given the current banking climate and new regulations he is very smart to rely on his customers. The rate he is paying is probably WAY below what he would have to pay a bank IF he could get the loan! Business loans are VERY difficult today even for the best financed companies.
In short, you could get all your parts at a substantial discount, a handsome return on your investment, and top quality parts to boot.
If you are interested, speak to Deb Gawlas at TRF, Director of operations. Charles Runyan, the owner of the company is old school. He does not do e-mail, texting or even a cell phone, I believe. A finer gentleman, more passionate company owner you will not find, however.
I am not an investor but have been pleased with EVERY aspect of doing business with them.

I'm going to seriously look at this when doing the TR3 for the discounts as Gordon mentions.

Gordon, that one is not quite true.

Charles sends out a minimum of one large rambling email every week to all of his customers. In some weeks there are two or three. I know all about his holiday plans, his restaurant in Indiana, his garden and his wife's TR6 and his daughters MGB.

I do not believe that he ever ANSWERS any email, but he does send a LOT of email messages.
