Tracy? You're right over the hill! What Toyota Transmission are you running in your car? Definitely be interested to see how you like it. I picked up a 1985 Toyota Celica transmission for my TR4 but I've yet to buy the kit. Trying to decide if I REALLY want to go that route, but there aren't many transmissions running around those years so figured I'd buy it now and sell it if I don't use my 4-spd transmission.
Gary, Nice to meet a local. So you know, I am a self-taught shade tree mechanic always attending The School of Hard Knocks. That said, I have rebuilt my engine and painted my own car, etc. Good help from the Forum has made this possible.
I have installed the HVDA, Herman van den Akker, (hope I spelled it right), transmission conversion. In doing so, the jury is out as to the correctness of the installation, and I may be revisiting the install to correct my mistakes. The W58 transmission is in my car and I am currently test-driving and verifying operations. I love the way the engine relaxes on freeway driving: 2200 to say 2400 (2500 and up is ticket-ville). I sense a slight lesser amount of acceleration response, but it is minimal and still leaves me appreciating the new transmission. I labored long and hard on whether to do this, and now that I have committed, I believe I will appreciate the car for better driving, knowing what I gave up in originality.
