@waltesefalcon

There is a small local cruise night I attend often, Luis showed up in a 1950 IHC L-130 pickup (flatdeck), original drivetrain, 6-cylinder and 4-speed transmission, not very fast... :p He built the flatdeck, and did some restoration work on the truck to get it roadworthy, but I believe he is keeping the bodywork the way it is now... The tires and rims aren't correct but he knows that...

At one point in the evening when the group went for a five minute cruise lap they do, I asked if I could ride along in his truck, it was a slow ride but lots of fun still, had a good conversation, and I took some photos of him driving, with that tall gear shifter... He moved here from Mexico,

Walter - what's the engine and transmission for your '46?

(I was going to ask about the a/c, hi-fi, heated massaging seats, exterior and interior bling, USB ports, and touch screen, but decided not to ...)

Tom, it has the old 214 Green Diamond flat head six and a four speed.

James, I just picked it up and it's been sitting twenty years. I'm waiting on a clear title and need to ho through the brakes and the fuel system before driving it. Most importantly I need to get three seat upholstered.

Bayless, Thanks.

Thanks Tom, that was a fun read. My granddad was the shop foreman for the local IH dealership after he got out of the Navy in 53 and I have some of these publications in 3 ring binders somewhere. Always fun to look through.

Interesting truck! Looks like the rims have been replaced with some modern ones.

He has the original split rims (AKA suicide rims) and wants to put them on @waltesefalcon , told me that he hasn't found anyone who can do it for him, it does sound like he has been in contact with the Kirkham's down in Lethbridge

IH never used the dangerous Firestone RH-5 splitrim. They used Budd and Dayton locking ring wheels. They are much safer and are pretty easy to change. He just needs to fund a tire shop that changes semi tires, they'll have someone that will mount a tire on those.
