My Machine Shop is Closed

The local machine shop I have used on several occasions is out of business for now...

The ton of marijuana seized suggests that they were a 'head shop' in every sense of the term.

Never used them for the important stuff, just broken studs and such. I feel for the guys who had engines and heads in there, a definite complication.

Something similar happened to the biggest chrome shop in Albuquerque. Big drug bust and they are out of business (and in jail).

Outside of the drug issue, I talked to a guy who has a machine shop a short while back he said there is little to no work with newer motors except for warped heads, they seldom have major issues and when they do it is usually a replace rather than a rebuild.

Still does a lot of work for the classic car scene though.

But if this is in fact the case, I assume you will see fewer shops around if they are mostly supporting hobbyists and not the general car population.

I guess it matters where you live. I live in central Tennessee and the machine shop that has done my engine work is covered over. Truck, tractor, hot rods and agriculture vehicles make up most of his trade but he does quite a bit of auto work also.

Lota money in the drug trade, strong temtation, glad you didn't have anything in the shop, no telling when all that stuff will be released.

Count yer blesings, man!!!!

At least you had real a machine shop to close down on ya.

My Triumph machine shop is the scooter store sales clerk behind
the parts counter. A Dremel tool, a few flat files and taps
and dies.

Of yeah-forgot one. The counter guy at our specialty bolt
store. He ground the metric threads off my Big Three water
temperature sender and cut American threads into it.

My two "machine " shops are still in business!!

maybe try the local bong shop next time maybe they work on engines in the back, hehe

Hondo, your wisdom is so sweet and simple. That's where I'm going to take my carbs to be gone through. Now if I can remember where that place was...
