installed the system today. boy that was not the easiest exhaust i ever put on. in fact i think i have had rusty units that went on better. i am guessing the SS piping is a bit thicker and the parts just do not want to go together unless they are really aligned well. also would help to have someone else holding the system. i ended up using a rachet strap to hold it up tight while i tapped and wiggled it up. a couple of pics below. after looking at them i felt like the inside pipe was lower than the outside. both of my back brackets were on the outised pipe. i decided i did not like that so i went back out and adjusted the one right behind the muffler so it was attached to the inside pipe. that helped to pull it straighter and i believe it will hold the system steadier. if i was to make a suggestion to someone, that would be it.

getting that front hanger attached, as far as getting the bolt in, was not that easy either.

on a side note, while i under there i noticed i had some oil leaking from the gearbox.... and i haven't even driven it yet.... holy cow. looks like it is coming from the lever for the OD. hopefully it just needs to get some oil into some of the seals. don't know how long this rebuilt tran has been sitting. on a positive note i do not have one oil leak from the engine...... hope to put oil in it this weekend. ha.

the other nice note is the garage is starting to look like a garage again. two pics... one from last July and one from today.

yes the second one is from today.... sorry got off topic again. but it is nice to have that stuff off the floor.

There is a small O-ring on either side of the shaft that actuates the OD valve when the solenoid is energized, which means the one inside the solenoid cover box may be leaking as well. Sorry to say this, but if the O-rings are old and hardened they probably won't repair themselves (and I'd be loathe to put any of the 'stop leak' goops in an OD). Also, even if the OD was overhauled whoever did the work may not have replaced these because, at the very least, you have to drive out the roll pin holding the lever on to get to the one on that side.

If it's leaking sitting on the bench or in the car, it will leak more when the oil gets hot and slung about inside the gearbox and OD. If it's just a little seepage, I wouldn't worry about it.

well i was just adjusting the travel on the OD arm the other day. i had no seepage before that so maybe it won't be much. at this point i am going to take that chance. i did not have any in the cover box while adjusting. so let's hope....

Yep Drone Dog :
N your local muffler shop generally can not help as their bender will not handle SS. Most of these sets in spite of computer matched to original claims by the sellers, are a bugger to fit.

OH !
"N" is equivalent to "and" but mathematically they are not equal.LOL

The 50-year-old O-rings in my OD looked OK, so I think you'll be fine.

Something ain't right w Keoke's scene. Looks like invisible ink.
What he's pointing out is that your local muffler guy's pipe bender generally isn't up for stainless steel and that even though these computer designed kits are oft times said to meet original specs. they often don't and can be a "bugger" to fit.

I've had mine on my car for about 2 years. Looks great ,but I had a lot of leaks at the joints. U bolt clamps tend to deform the thin wall tubing. I purchased SS strap clamps from Moss that solved the problem. I then had to modify some of the hangers that use the U bolt clamps so they no longer performed double duty of holding the pipe joint together and holdinf the exhaust system to the car.
