TR6 Left wheel gets warm when I drive

Drove my car for about an hour today and noticed the left wheel getting warm. Just rebuilt the front brakes last weekend and found the rotor on that side was warped when I had it turned. One of the reasons I pulled over to check it. Must have meant it was getting hot before I rebuilt the brakes. I checked the bearings and they were fine. All new brake parts, including new pistons. I did have to put in three shims on the left side to center the caliper. I am baffled. Any suggestions?

Do you think the pad is dragging on the rotor? Does it pull to one side if you let go of the steering wheel?

Is this the same car that was declared totaled just recently ?

The pad dragging could be a possibility, but it is not pulling to one side while driving. I will pull the wheel this weekend and see if it is dragging. I won't be driving it until then anyway. If it is, I am not sure what I can do about it. No, this was not totaled.

Before even pulling a wheel, get the front end up and spin each wheel. It should be pretty obvious if there's any significant drag.

Sorry to hear about the brakes acting up after the significant brake job.

If the rubber brake line hoses have not been changed in the last five years to a decade, you may consider changing them as a number of TR6 owners have reported internal problems in the hose which doesn't allow the hydraulic fluid to relase after brake application is completed. The result is a dragging brakes.

If you have a dial indicator, you may verify the rotor runout. My neighbor has his rotors turned and the job was botched. He had to have them cut again.

1st time I ever heard about shimming brake pads to center them! Will need to read up on that. Live and learn.

Yep, I suffered the collapsing front brake hoses last year. They were 13 yrars old.

Had exact same problem.

New flexible brake hoses makes a huge difference.

Just wanted to update. Thanks for the suggestions on the brake hoses. Had problems with brake hoses before on my Bugeye. Weird thing was that there was no indication from the outside. After ten years, I automatically replace all rubber parts. On both my cars some rubber parts deteriorate to the point they have to be replaced well before that. I found out the problem with my brakes. It ended up I had not lubricated the parts enough on the driver side. Once I did this the brakes worked perfect, and the brake light went out. Grateful for that little red brake light (and forum member of course) , or I might not have caught it.
