TR2/3/3A Hood lift to front apron, what size are the screws that go from bottom up?

I forgot to test the screw holes and don't want to take the apron off again. Can someone tell me the sheet metal screws that come up from the bottom to help hold the hood lift?

I think they are #12 sheet metal screws.

Mine are about a #6 or #8 button head Phillips sheet metal screw. The head style doesn't really matter as you will never see them. I am also not sure that is what was installed at the factory.

The 4 x bottom fixing screws were part YA.0444 - 8g x 1/2" button head sheet metal screws for Phillips head screwdriver.

Ah, the winners go to size 8. I tried a few and the 8s worked best. I thought they might be tapped at first but once you guys said sheet metal screws, the search was easier.

"...screws coming from the bottom to help hold the hood lift..." means?
Are we talking abut the "British hood" (soft top) frame...or the hood over the engine?

I think they are talking about the bracket with the spring and plunger, that pops the bonnet up an inch or so. It is also has the slot for the bonnet prop rod...

Thanx, John. Today I got ahold of a shot of the area....and suddenly realized my car was lacking the two brackets that y'all are talking about!
I didn't miss them....till now. May have to (re-re-re)move the apron to fab up a couple.

BTW: the paint color on your pic is the same as mine was when I started it. (Not original on mine though). Went 'Dove Grey'.

It's just a single bracket, with the large spring, a plunger, and some washers. I know Geo and others have posted some great pictures in the past of the parts envolved if you do a search. You should not have to remove the apron to remove or install the assembly...so that's good news!

I made up a couple of those brackets before I found my original ones. You are welcome to them if you want. No need to remove the apron to install them. I believe they are just stiffeners and obviously the bonnet latch will operate without them. Thanks and have a good day!
