I need some help with where to mount the frame for the top on my TF. I seem to have lost the dry rotted and termite-eaten parts of my coachwork frame. if someone can post a photo with approximate dimensions that would be most helpful. I know the rule, never get rid of a part until the restoration is done. Mahalo for any help with this.

Mornin', Dave -

When I built my Victor TF, I used the instructions from Moss, which give the height measurement from the top of the door to the frame, apparently the most critical dimension. Very helpful, as, like you, I had no reference points, either from the body or the door cards. Here's a link: http://www.caroholic.com/images/TC Top Installation_Moss.pdf

I'll get a picture in a bit and post it for you.

Well, I tried, but couldn't get a clear shot of the mounting point due to the seat back interfering with the view. But I did measure the distances of the mounting screws from the edge of the body. Top one is 1 3/4" from the top of the body, measuring vertically, and the bottom screw is 2" from the side, measuring horizontally. Hope that makes sense.

Oh, and I'll add that a friend's '54 TF (real one) measured almost identically. These Victor's really are faithful to the original!

Thanks MIckey, that is just what I need. I also have a never used top for the TF that a friend gave me. Now I have dimensions and installation instruction for the top.

Glad to help. If you run into any issues, feel free to contact me - mjrichaud @ gmail. One thing I did that others have done (and you may already be aware), unless you're going for a concours restoration, is to use snaps along the rear fixing points rather than screws. That allows you to open rear of the top to access the storage area without having to drop the top.
