I finally had the time to get it done today. Now I can start fixing a few other projects and begin the spare gauge rebuilding that I've been putting off for months. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/nonono.gif

Tutorial is here: https://www.74tr6.com/heater.htm

Nice job Paul.

That looks like powder coating on the outside.
Do you have powder coating equipment at home?

Now-stupid question of the day.

The DPO ripped out the entire heating and
ventilation system in Crypty. Like where does
the heater fan install in a TR6?

just curious since I probably don't need one anyway.

Dale,

Look at the tutorial that I have on my website and you will see the motor inside the case. https://www.74tr6.com/heater.htm

Also, that's not powder coating, just Rustoleum enamel in 3 coats.

To have a complete heating system in your car, you will need a complete case assembly like I have shown above, the two attaching hoses and the pipe connector that fits in the firewall and it's seal. That along with hoses to the fresh air vents will round out the inside. Then you will need the two formed hoses that go from the pipe connector to the water valve and manifold pipe on the engine for the exterior parts. You will probably need the water valve an adapter as well. But if I lived in 80 degree paradise, I'd let it go.

Randy,

You can buy the motors new from TRF & Moss for about $125. If yours isn't locked up tight you could send it to Yankee Auto Electric in Pawtucket, RI and speak to Brad. It generally costs about $55-$60 to rehab a motor like this. With the freight back and forth, you may not want to take the chance on that type of money versus buying new with a warranty.

Removing the unit from the car is not an easy job. What I did on the bench to a spare unit is a cakewalk compared to the actual R&R of the unit.

hey guys, actually i wasnt looking for the heater motor, but the actual fan blades. my fan is broken and i was thinking about an upgraded blower from revington but thats soooooo expensive. i may do this down the line especially if i cant find another plastic fan for mine. does anyone know of another place to get an upgraded blower? thanks

To the best of my knowledge, those are NLA and are difficult to find due to the fact that they break when you try to remove them. I'll talk to a few guys who might have a spare and see if they are willing to part with it.

It's a shame to go and hide it under the dash.......

Craig,

It's a spare, just in case. It (the case, not me!) will go into a plastic bag and be sealed up, put away and ready if the bad day should ever come. It won't be hidden, just on the shelf in my work shop.

does this mean that at some point in the future you will have enough spares on the shelf to assemble a complete TR6???

Craig,

My wife asked the same question on Sunday. I didn't really answer her, but if I could, I would!
